Mission of the Role (What you will be doing)
The Yard Truck Driver is responsible for safely moving semi-trailers throughout the facility yard to support dock operations, shipping, receiving, and overall warehouse efficiency. This position plays a critical role in keeping freight moving on time and ensuring trailers are properly staged for loading and unloading operations.
Key Duties & Accountabilities (Primary responsibilities & quantifiable measurements)

Safely operate a yard tractor (hostler/spotter truck) to move trailers throughout the facility yard

Stage trailers at assigned dock doors per dispatcher or dock manager instructions

Inspect trailers for damage, cleanliness, and proper sealing before and after movement

Maintain accurate records of trailer positions and movements using yard management systems or manual logs

Coordinate with dock associates, dispatchers, and drivers to ensure timely trailer placement

Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of yard equipment in accordance with DOT regulations

Report equipment defects, unsafe conditions, or damaged trailers to supervisors immediately

Assist with shipping and receiving activities as directed

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard environment
