Job Description

The Associate Executive Director is responsible for ongoing center operations, including program development and management, membership development, and supervision of Program Directors. The Associate Executive Director is responsible for all facets of marketing YMCA programs and provides staff leadership to advance the YMCA mission and position the center as a vital community asset serving youth development, social responsibility, and healthy living.




  • Manages center budget, including income targets and expense control, in collaboration with the Executive Director.

  • Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates Program Directors and center staff.

  • Sets and communicates a clear vision aligned with YMCA mission and goals.

  • Evaluates existing programs and leads development of new initiatives aligned with strategic priorities.

  • Provides leadership for youth, teen, outreach, and member engagement/retention initiatives.

  • Guides program development, policies, and committees to align with center and association goals.

  • Supports strategic planning, marketing, public relations, and promotional efforts.

  • Leads annual campaign efforts and builds community engagement through events and partnerships.

  • Oversees facility operations, scheduling, equipment, and financial assistance processes.

  • Ensures staff development, reporting/ administration, and integration of YMCA core values across all operations.

  • Perform other duties/ assignments as needed at the YMCA.

  • A bachelor’s degree is required.

  • Minimum of five years of professional experience.

  • Ability to develop and maintain quality programs.

  • Strong organizational and supervisory skills.

  • Must possess knowledge in fiscal management, program planning, member services and sales, personnel management, training and evaluation, public relations, and fundraising.

  • Completion of all position-specific and required YMCA training within established deadlines
