Youth Support Specialist (Case Management & Life Skills)

Schedule: Monday & Friday 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM | Tuesday–Thursday 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Help Young People Build the Skills and Confidence for Adulthood

At Pendleton Place, we work alongside young people ages 16–21 who are experiencing foster care and preparing for adulthood.

We're looking for a Youth Support Specialist who enjoys building relationships, helping young people navigate challenges, and celebrating the milestones that lead to independence. This role combines case management, mentoring, life-skills development, advocacy, and coordination of services in a residential setting.

This position is ideal for a recent or early-career social worker, counselor, human services.

What You'll Do:

  • Build Relationships That Matter
    • Develop supportive, professional relationships with youth ages 16–21.
    • Provide coaching, encouragement, guidance, and accountability.
    • Help youth identify strengths, set goals, and overcome barriers.
    • Support emotional well-being through a strengths-based, youth-centered approach.
  • Case Management & Goal Planning
    • Assist youth in developing individualized plans focused on education, employment, housing, health, and independent living.
    • Monitor progress toward goals and celebrate milestones.
    • Connect youth to community resources, schools, employers, healthcare providers, and supportive services.
    • Help youth obtain identification documents, employment paperwork, transportation resources, and other essentials for adulthood
  • Independent Living Skills
    • Teach practical life skills including budgeting, grocery shopping, meal planning, cooking, apartment readiness, communication, and problem-solving.
    • Facilitate individual and group activities focused on self-sufficiency and personal growth.
    • Support youth in developing healthy routines and decision-making skills.
  • Collaboration & Advocacy
    • Participate in team meetings and case staffings.
    • Communicate with schools, service providers, employers, and community partners.
    • Advocate for youth needs and opportunities.
    • Coordinate transportation and community-based activities as needed.
  • Documentation & Compliance
    • Complete timely case notes, progress updates, and program documentation.
    • Maintain accurate records and support licensing and funding requirements.
    • Assist with data collection and outcome tracking.

Requirements

 
  • Bachelor's degree requiredMaster's degree preferred in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Human Services, Education, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Experience working with adolescents, foster care, behavioral health, education, residential programs, or youth-serving organizations preferred.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
  • Valid South Carolina driver's license and insurable driving record.
  • Ability to pass required background screenings.
