The Orion GN&amp;C Engineer will support the space program located in Houston, TX. 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
<ul>
<li style="background:#FFFFFF;vertical-align:baseline;">Develop and evaluate safety-critical, human rated GN&amp;C flight software.</li>
<li style="background:#FFFFFF;vertical-align:baseline;">Develop, integrate, and test new GN&amp;C algorithms.</li>
<li style="background:#FFFFFF;vertical-align:baseline;">Develop, integrate, and test new algorithms for evaluation of vehicle and mission performance.</li>
<li style="background:#FFFFFF;vertical-align:baseline;">Develop, integrate, and test new algorithms for trajectory optimizations.</li>
<li style="background:#FFFFFF;vertical-align:baseline;">Provide recommendations for improvements in design and software development processes.</li>
<li>Other duties as assigned. </li>
</ul>

<li style="background:#FFFFFF;vertical-align:baseline;">Must have a bachelor's degree in the field of engineering.</li>
<li style="background:#FFFFFF;vertical-align:baseline;">Must have 1+ years of recent and related work experience.</li>
<li style="background:#FFFFFF;vertical-align:baseline;">Experience with Kalman filters.</li>
<li style="background:#FFFFFF;vertical-align:baseline;">Experience with development of modeling spacecraft systems performance.</li>
<li style="background:#FFFFFF;vertical-align:baseline;">Knowledge in the development of GN&amp;C algorithms and spacecraft system analysis.</li>
<li style="background:#FFFFFF;vertical-align:baseline;">Experience with development and analysis of 6 DOF algorithms and simulations.</li>
<li style="background:#FFFFFF;vertical-align:baseline;">Experience with orbital mechanics and GN&amp;C principles.</li>
<li style="background:#FFFFFF;vertical-align:baseline;">Experience with design, verification, testing, and operation of GN&amp;C software.</li>
<li style="background:#FFFFFF;vertical-align:baseline;">Experience with LINUX, Python, MATLAB, Simulink, and C/C++.</li>
<li style="background:#FFFFFF;vertical-align:baseline;">Experience with Git/GitLab version control.</li>
<li style="background:#FFFFFF;vertical-align:baseline;">Experience with the development of space system requirements and documents.</li>
</ul>
 
DESIRED:
<ul>
<li>Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and/or Machine Learning.</li>
<li>Experience with safety-critical, human-rated embedded software development.</li>
<li>Experience with Object oriented software development.</li>
<li>Experience with Agile software development.</li>
<li>Experience with spacecraft rendezvous, proximity operations, and docking.</li>
<li>Familiarity with spacecraft docking systems.</li>
<li>Working knowledge of NASA, JSC, and ISS standard practices and requirements (including safety).</li>
<li>Experience with NASA flight operations and procedures.</li>
<li>Familiarity with NASA/JSC documentation databases and SharePoint sites.</li>
<li>Experience with the NASA Trick simulation architecture and JEOD (JSC Engineering Orbital Dynamics).</li>
</ul>
 
WORK LOCATION: 
<ul>
<li>This position is located onsite and offers a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off; some travel may be required. </li>
<li style="background:#FFFFFF;vertical-align:baseline;">Schedules are subject to change based on the requirements of the position and/or customer needs.</li>
</ul>
 
BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:
All Bastion employees must be able to pass a national agency check and some positions require clearance and will require an extensive background verification/check process.
 
DRUG AND ALCOHOL SCREENING REQUIRED:
All Bastion employees must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and are required to participate in periodic random drug and alcohol screenings.
 
STANDARD BASTION REQUIREMENTS:

<li>Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS.</li>
<li>All of Bastion's employees must be team players with strong work ethics and must be culture oriented.</li>
<li>Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.</li>
<li>Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.</li>
<li>Must be organized with good time management skills and must be able to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.</li>
<li>Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.</li>
<li>Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time) and may require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).</li>
<li>Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.</li>
</ul>
