If you enjoy building resilient distributed systems, shipping to production frequently, and raising the bar on platform reliability and developer velocity, this role is for you.What you’ll be doing<ul><li>Build and ship cloud-native backend services in Java using Spring Boot, focused on high-throughput messaging and workflow.</li><li>Design and implement microservices and APIs that are secure, observable, and built to scale in a multi-tenant SaaS environment.</li><li>Partner with Engineering, Product, QA, and Operations to deliver features that are reliable, measurable, and production-ready.</li><li>Improve platform resilience and performance through smart architecture, instrumentation, load testing, and pragmatic optimization.</li><li>Build modern delivery workflows: CI/CD, automated testing, and safe deployments (blue/green, canary, progressive delivery).</li><li>Contribute to platform modernization (incremental evolution, not “big bang” rewrites), with an emphasis on maintainability and operational excellence.</li><li>Support the integration and operationalization of emerging technologies and services within our production environment.</li></ul>Tech environment (what we’re building toward)<ul><li>Backend: Java (modern versions), Spring Boot, API-first services (REST; gRPC where useful)</li><li>Architecture: microservices, event-driven patterns, multi-tenant SaaS</li><li>Cloud &amp; runtime: AWS preferred; Docker &#43; Kubernetes (cloud-native containers)</li><li>Data: SQL databases (MySQL preferred) and strong data modeling practices</li><li>Frontend: Experience with modern frameworks such as Vue, React, or Angular.</li><li>Operational excellence: monitoring, logging, tracing, alerting, incident response readiness</li></ul>​Requirements<ul><li>US Citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract.</li><li>5&#43; years building and operating highly scalable, highly available software systems.</li><li>Strong proficiency in Java and modern backend development (Spring Boot and common enterprise patterns).</li><li>Experience designing and implementing APIs and distributed system integrations.</li><li>Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred; Azure/GCP welcome).</li><li>Hands-on experience with containers (Docker) and Kubernetes (or equivalent orchestration experience).</li><li>Strong fundamentals: data structures, OOP, networking basics, reliability patterns.</li><li>Proficiency with SQL and relational databases (MySQL preferred).</li><li>Experience working in an Agile environment with strong cross-functional communication skills.</li><li>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent practical experience).</li></ul>Strongly preferred / bonus points<ul><li>Production experience with microservices and/or event-driven architectures (queues, pub-sub, streaming).</li><li>Front-end development experience with React, Angular, or Vue (TypeScript a plus).</li><li>Experience with infrastructure-as-code and delivery automation (Terraform/CloudFormation &#43; CI/CD).</li><li>Exposure to Machine Learning (ML) operations, including assisting with the deployment, monitoring, or scaling of ML-backed services in a production setting.</li><li>Familiarity with public safety / critical communications domains (state/local public safety, facilities/property management) is a plus.</li></ul>Target Base Salary Range: $150,000 USD - $175,000 USDConsistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity.
