<p>The Software Development Manager is responsible for leading and supporting an engineering team that delivers critical capabilities for TaxSlayer�s products. This role combines technical leadership, people management, and process ownership to ensure reliable delivery, strong engineering standards, and continuous improvement. The Software Development Manager works closely with cross-functional partners to align execution with organizational priorities and business objectives.</p>

<h3><strong>What You�ll Be Doing</strong></h3>

<ul>
	<li>Lead and support a team of software engineers to deliver high-quality, secure, and scalable software solutions through effective prioritization, technical guidance, and performance management.</li>
	<li>Partner with Product, Design, Architecture, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into actionable technical plans</li>
	<li>Provide technical guidance and architectural oversight across full-stack systems using modern frameworks and cloud-native technologies</li>
	<li>Ensure consistent delivery through agile best practices including sprint planning, backlog refinement, retrospectives, and release management</li>
	<li>Promote and enforce engineering best practices including code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, and secure development standards</li>
	<li>Identify and mitigate technical, delivery, and resourcing risks</li>
	<li>Support hiring, onboarding, and team capacity planning in alignment with organizational needs</li>
	<li>Other duties as assigned</li>
</ul>

	<li>Solid understanding of relational databases (SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL) and familiarity with non-relational databases (e.g., Redis)</li>
	<li>Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems (Git, Azure DevOps), and DevOps technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes</li>
	<li>Deep understanding of object-oriented design principles, design patterns, and software architecture</li>
	<li>Demonstrated ability to lead teams in an Agile/Scrum environment</li>
	<li>Strong communication, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills</li>
	<li>Ability to balance technical decision-making with people leadership and business priorities</li>
</ul>

<h3><strong>Education & Certifications</strong></h3>

	<li>Bachelor�s degree in <strong>Computer Science</strong>, <strong>Software Engineering</strong>, or equivalent experience.</li>
	<li>7+ years of professional software development experience</li>
	<li>2+ years of experience leading or managing software engineering teams</li>
</ul>

<h3><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></h3>

	<li>Experience in <strong>financial services</strong> or <strong>tax software</strong> domains.</li>
	<li>Familiarity with <strong>domain-driven design</strong>.</li>
