You will design, build, monitor, and maintain backend services that power a complex, distributed, web-based software product. As a Senior Software Developer, you’ll provide technical direction and work with the team to iteratively deliver production-grade microservices. You will help shape the technical direction and collaborate with team members to evolve our microservice architecture in a scalable Docker/Kubernetes environment that maintains a strong focus on reliability, security, and performance.What you&#39;ll do:<ul><li>Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain backend services and APIs for a microservice architecture.</li><li>Demonstrate the ability to implement modern architectural designs in software development.</li><li>Mentor the team in building resilient, observable, and secure services (e.g., health checks, structured logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting).</li><li>Implement data and integration patterns such as asynchronous messaging, event-driven workflows, and independent service-to-service communication.</li><li>Develop automated unit and integration tests to confirm the expected behavior of software during the build process.</li><li>Develop containerized workloads and deployment artifacts; contribute to Kubernetes deployments, configuration, and runtime troubleshooting.</li><li>Collaborate with Product, Design, other Engineering teams, and product stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions and deliver iteratively.</li><li>Improve developer velocity by contributing to CI/CD pipelines, automation, and engineering standards (testing, code review, documentation).</li><li>Mentor engineers and raise the quality bar through design reviews, technical guidance, and shared ownership of architecture decisions. </li><li>Actively participate in Scrum Agile events and provide your opinion and guidance as a technical professional during team discussions.</li><li>Responsibilities listed are not intended to be all-inclusive and may be modified as necessary.</li></ul>Experience you&#39;ll need to have:<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related field.</li><li>7&#43; years of professional experience developing software and delivering production systems with a member of a product development team.</li><li>Proficient in building Java (Spring Boot) RESTful APIs and/or gRPC services.</li><li>Working knowledge with software design patterns and architectural principals, including application scaling, distributed data systems and asynchronous communications.</li><li>Experience designing and developing microservices, including service decomposition, API design, and backwards-compatible change management.</li><li>Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker and Kubernetes).</li><li>Experience with secure coding practices and secrets management.</li><li>Experience with Agile, CI/CD systems and modern SDLC practices (code reviews, automated testing, and incremental delivery).</li><li>Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills across distributed systems, networking, and Linux-based environments.</li><li>Strong communication skills, including writing technical documentation, participating in Agile events, and collaborating effectively with team members.</li></ul>Experience that would be great to have:<ul><li>Experience with distributed systems, microservices architectures (Docker/Kubernetes), and working in a Linux-based environment.</li><li>Experience with data stores commonly used in distributed systems (e.g., PostgreSQL/MySQL, Redis, Kafka) and associated consistency and scaling trade-offs.</li><li>Experience with observability stacks (e.g., OpenTelemetry, Prometheus/Grafana, ELK/EFK) and building actionable operational dashboards.</li><li>Experience with Kubernetes ecosystems and tools (e.g., Helm, ArgoCD, Kustomize) and automated CI/CD build pipelines (GitLab).</li><li>Experience hardening systems for security and compliance (threat modeling, secrets management, secure coding practices).</li><li>Experience improving performance and reliability through load testing, capacity planning, and resiliency patterns (timeouts, retries, circuit breakers).</li></ul>How you’ll work:<ul><li>This role is on-site Monday through Friday.
