As a Senior Software Engineer on the Fulfillment Team, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and scaling the core systems that enable order fulfillment across our restaurants—including ordering, make-line integration, delivery, carryout, and third-party logistics. You will work closely with product managers, architects, and cross-functional teams to deliver highly reliable, performant, and extensible software that supports tens of thousands of restaurants and millions of customers globally.<h2>Key Responsibilities</h2><ul><li>Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-availability backend services supporting order fulfillment and delivery workflows</li><li>Lead technical design and drive architecture decisions for cloud-native, distributed, event-driven systems</li><li>Build APIs and event-driven services integrating with POS, kitchen systems, delivery platforms, and external partners</li><li>Own services end-to-end (design, implementation, deployment, observability, and reliability)</li><li>Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code while promoting engineering best practices</li><li>Provide technical leadership through code reviews, mentoring, knowledge sharing and contributing to refinement of engineering standards</li><li>Collaborate with external vendors and internal Product, QA, DevOps, development teams and Business Operations teams to deliver resilient, impactful solutions</li><li>Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues with a focus on performance, scalability, and reliability</li><li>Participate in on-call rotations and lead incident response for critical systems</li></ul><h2>Required Qualifications</h2><ul><li>5&#43; years of software engineering experience building secure, scalable backend and/or distributed systems and leading software development teams</li><li>Proven experience designing and operating high-scale, cloud-native microservices in production</li><li>Strong proficiency in one or more: Java, Kotlin, Node.js, or Python</li><li>Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures</li><li>Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred)</li><li>Strong understanding of databases, messaging systems, and caching strategies</li><li>Excellent problem-solving skills and sense of ownership</li><li>Proven track record for designing/creating quality solutions with minimal input</li><li>Strong communication skills and ability to influence technical direction</li><li>Experience with Agile methodologies</li></ul><h2>Preferred Qualifications</h2><ul><li>Experience in eCommerce, fulfillment, delivery, or restaurant technology domains</li><li>Familiarity with microservices, Docker, and Kubernetes</li><li>Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Terraform, Jenkins, Harness)</li><li>Knowledge of POS systems, kitchen systems, or last-mile delivery platforms</li><li>Experience supporting mission-critical systems with strict uptime, latency, and SLA requirements</li><li>Experience with AI tools and technology</li></ul> Current Tech Stack<ul><li>Backend: Java 17-25, Spring Boot 3&#43;, some Python/JS</li><li>Cloud Platform: Google Cloud Platform (Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Firestore, GKEE, GSM, etc)</li><li>Architecture: Event-driven microservices, asynchronous processing, webhook ingestion, RESTful APIs</li><li>Infrastructure: Terraform, GKE and serverless deployments</li><li>Data &amp; As a Software Engineer on the Fulfillment Team, you will contribute to the development and evolution of systems that support order fulfillment across our restaurants—including ordering, kitchen workflows, carryout, delivery, and third-party integrations.
