	<li>Provides pastoral/spiritual care to patients, families, visitors and staff. Responsible for crisis ministry/intervention, bereavement services, and sacramental needs of patients.</li>

<p><span class="emphasis">It&#39;s fun to work in a company where people truly BELIEVE in what they&#39;re doing!</span><br />We&#39;re committed to bringing passion and customer focus to the business.</p><p></p><p><b>Please Note:  While assigned hours are generally consistent from week to week, there are no guaranteed minimal hours and positional needs will vary depending on Chaplain availability and Client requirements.</b></p><h1></h1><h1><span class="emphasis">Position Summary </span></h1><p>Chaplains are the frontline staff fulfilling the mission and Christian ministry of MCHAP, by using their gifts and talents to serve company employees and their immediate families. </p><p></p><p><b>Part-Time, Beaumont, TX</b></p><p></p><p><b><u>Essential Functions and Responsibilities </u></b><br />• Serves as a messenger and conveyor of faith, mission, and purpose.<br />• Interacts with companies, their employees, and the community in a manner that exhibits character through personal and spiritual disciplines.</p><p></p><p><u><b>Ministry </b></u></p><p>• Makes regular visits to company worksites (usually weekly) to interact with employees and build relationships of trust and friendship motivated by Christian faith.</p><p>• Visits employees or immediate family members wherever care can be expressed and help given: hospitals, nursing homes, funeral homes, family residences, or other sites.</p><p>• May provide confidential pastoral discussions for problem issues of employees and their immediate family members including, but not limited to family matters, divorce, serious illness, care of aging parents, death and grief recovery, parenting, financial situations that may include debt discussions, budgeting, and other life issues related to financial stress, as well as any other personal issues. Provides referral service and acts as coordinator for specialized assistance to employees and/or immediate family members with specific needs.</p><p>• May assist in the planning, conduct or attend funerals for employees or immediate family members, including follow-up support and encouragement to immediate family members during the grief period.</p><p>• May make jail visits to employees and immediate family members.</p><p>• Works with companies to serve notifications of death and serious injuries to families and other employees, encouraging those impacted by various tragedies.</p><p>• May provide post-termination care for laid-off or terminated employees in order to foster a smooth transition to another work environment.</p><p>• May facilitate, but not lead, spiritual enrichment activities, as an employee-sponsored and led activity will usually be more fruitful than a chaplain led event.</p><p>• Provides, as appropriate/requested, literature and other resources to assist company employees with life issues.</p><p>• Represents companies to clients/customers where it would be appropriate to ministry services involved (i.e., serious illness, accidents, traumatic events, and funerals).</p><p>• Participates in new employee orientation to explain the Employee Care Service and the role of the Chaplain Team.</p><p>• With Executive Director of Operations (EDO) permission, responds positively and assertively to other duties and services requested by executive leadership of companies, within the scope of the Letter of Agreement between MCHAP Chaplains and the company.</p><p></p><p><u><b>Requirements </b></u><br />1. Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues.</p><p>5. Hospice PRN Chaplain

Experience in pastoral care, counseling, or hospice ministry; strong communication and emotional intelligence; able to support patients and families of all faiths; team collaboration.

<p><strong><span>ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES</span></strong></p>
<p>The counselor shall provide spiritual counseling based on the initial and ongoing assessment of spiritual needs of the patient/family, in a manner consistent with standards of practice including, but not limited to the following:</p>
<ol>
<li>Serve as a liaison and support to community chaplains and/or spiritual counselors;</li>
<li>Provide consultation, support, and education to the IDT members on spiritual care;</li>
<li>Supervise spiritual care volunteers assigned to care givers/family; and</li>
<li>Attend IDT meetings when plan of care is reviewed</li>
<li>Spiritual/pastoral assessment as indicated and appropriate, is completed within 5 calendar days after admission</li>
<li>Spiritual/pastoral support is provided in accordance with on-going wishes and needs of the patient/family</li>
<li>Development of an individualized spiritual/pastoral plan of care which:</li>
</ol>
<p>Demonstrates an effort to work in close collaboration with local clergy whenever desired by the patient</p>
<p>Provides spiritual support as needed and defined by the patient/family</p>
<ol>
<li>Conducting religious services of prayer, worship and rituals for patients/families, as appropriate</li>
<li>Offering patients/families of different philosophies and religious beliefs opportunities to discuss and share their thoughts, feelings, beliefs and values</li>
<li>Documenting counseling provided in the patient’s clinical record</li>
<li>Working with other professionals in resolving spiritual/pastoral/ethical issues</li>
<li>Working in a team approach with members of the IDG and other qualified professionals, as determined by the hospice, to evaluate patient/family response to care.</li>
<li>Upon request, meeting with individual staff regarding personal spiritual/pastoral issues that may affect their ability to function effectively</li>
<li>Assisting in developing and updating the plan of care</li>
<li>Being available to staff for bereavement support</li>
<li>Assessing patient/family response to and satisfaction with care</li>
<li>Participating in development of approaches to meet staff counseling needs             </li>
</ol>
<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</strong></p>
<p>      1. Documented evidence of appropriate training and skills to provide spiritual counseling, such as Bachelor of Divinity, Master of Divinity or equivalent theological degree or training from an accredited school or university.   An individual may qualify as a spiritual counselor without said degree if he/she has documented skills to provide spiritual counseling and has received equivalent training and supervision from an individual who meets one of the above qualifications.</p>
<p>     2.  <strong>End of life and/or hospice experience required.</strong></p>
<p><strong>OTHER QUALIFICATIONS</strong></p>
<p>     1.  Has not been excluded from participating in Medicare and Medicaid programs.</p>
<p>     2.  Maintains eligibility to participate in Medicare and Medicaid programs throughout employment</p>
<p>     3.  Capable of providing emergency care as needed for any patient</p>
<p>    4.  Maintains a neat, well-groomed appearance at all times. Keeps personal appearance appropriate for patient care.</p>
<p>    5.  Ability and willingness to participate appropriately in a disaster or evacuation situation.</p>
<p>    6.  Participate in pre-employment and annual Tuberculosis screening.</p>
