Essential Functions:

<li>Reliable and punctual attendance is essential; expected to be at job as scheduled each scheduled day.</li>
<li>Communicate necessary information to others as appropriate.</li>
<li>Basic understanding of coding guidelines and conventions, processes and techniques.</li>
<li>Understanding of medical data flow from pre-authorization to adjudicated claim; knowledge of billing and claims regulations.</li>
<li>Receive and review patient chart and orders for accuracy and completeness for the purpose of procedural and diagnostic coding.</li>
<li>Utilize software and electronic coding references to perform coding related tasks.</li>
<li>Assign codes to diagnoses and procedures, using ICD-10 CM (International Classification of Diseases), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology codes HCPCS level II and ICD 10 PCS.</li>
<li>Ensure codes are accurate and sequenced correctly in accordance with government and insurance regulations, maintaining 95% accuracy rate.</li>
<li>Identify problems – report and support resolution of coding workflow/process.</li>
<li>Execute timely and effective coding/documentation queries.</li>
<li>Perform monitoring and statistical reporting as needed.</li>

Responsibilities:
<ul style="list-style-type: circle;">
<li>Completes coding per practice policy and standards.
<ul style="list-style-type: circle;">
<li>Review physician office visit documentation to correctly apply CPT Procedure codes and ICD-10 Diagnosis codes to patient accounts.</li>
<li>Comply with medical coding guidelines and policies to ensure correct and ethical coding.</li>
<li>Communicate with physicians on coding and patient questions along with providing documentation feedback as needed.</li>
<li>Meet or exceed Community Hospital performance standards on accuracy and productivity.</li>
<li>Assist with coding reviews as appropriate</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Follows up on all assigned accounts within the billing systems in accordance with pre-established goals.

<li>Maintain 48 hour turn around on accounts in coding worklist.</li>
<li>Maintain an accuracy rate of 95% or higher on CPT and ICD-10 coding selection.</li>
<li>Provide timely corrections and feed back to biller inquiries on coding denials and questions.</li>
<li>Writes appropriate notes in system for every account, including any action taken.</li>
<li>Elevates issues, as appropriate, to the supervisor.</li>

Requirements:

<li>High school diploma or equivalent with past billing or coding experience preferred.</li>
<li>Medical coding CPC with AAPC membership or certification within one year of starting position</li>
</ul>
Compensation:
<ul>
<li>Coder I: $26.00 - $29.90 per hour, depending on education and experience. </li>
<li>Coder II: $27.00 - $31.05 per hour, depending on education and experience. </li>
<li>Discretionary bonuses, relocation expenses, merit increase, market adjustments, recognition bonuses, and other forms of discretionary compensation may be available.</li>
