The Ambulatory Coder works charge review work queues for assigned practices to ensure the completeness and accuracy of coding clinical diagnosis and procedures. Maintain productivity and accuracy levels for the job assigned.
Job Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Review, code, data entry and interpret with accuracy and complete patient data for medical office, outpatient, inpatient, handwritten chart entries, practitioner orders and other related documentation to ensure accurate information is being submitted for billing.</li>
<li>Obtain accurate and complete patient data through the review of the medical record, discharge summary, history and physical, consultation, progress notes, and laboratory, radiology, operative and pathology reports.</li>
<li>Maintains competence in and up-to-date knowledge of healthcare compliance requirements, practices, trends, coding rules and standards in areas of responsibility. Maintains professional affiliations and credentials as appropriate.</li>
<li>Consistently supports the compliance and principles of responsibility by maintaining confidentiality, protecting the assets for the organization, acting with integrity, reporting observed fraud and abuse and complies with applicable state, federal and local laws, program policies and procedures and serves as an expert for coding and compliance.</li>
<li>Other duties and projects as assigned.</li>

Education Requirements:
<ul>
<li>Minimum:  High School Diploma or equivalent</li>
</ul>
Experience Requirements:
<ul>
<li>Six (6) months experience with physician and/or medical billing office operations.</li>
<li>Preferred: 1 year experience with physician and/or medical billing office operations.</li>
</ul>
License and Certification Requirements:
<ul>
<li>Must Obtain License/Certification within a year of hired.</li>
</ul>

Medical Coder

Experience with medical billing; associates degree+ preferred; bilingual English/Spanish preferred; strong organizational and interpersonal skills; proficient in Microsoft Office and billing software; able to sit for long periods; lift up to 15 pounds.

Coordinate and oversee activities of the clinic and medical office team members to ensure effective and efficient delivery of high-quality clinical care for patients. The site supervisor serves as the leader for the practices within a specific site and is accountable to their teams achieving goals around productivity, quality, patient/co-worker experience, safety, and innovation annually. In addition to leadership functions, this position will also be responsible for patient care duties.
