About the Art Initiative:&nbsp;&nbsp;
Art at Barclays Center is a multi-year contemporary art program embedded within one of New York City’s most visible civic venues. The program commissions and presents ambitious artworks by leading and emerging artists across public art, digital commissions, and time-based media. Working with artists, galleries, museums, and cultural partners, the program activates the arena as a site for artistic inquiry, public engagement, and shared civic experience.&nbsp;
SUMMARY:&nbsp;&nbsp;
The Curatorial Intern supports the development, presentation, care, and interpretation of artworks presented through the art program.&nbsp;The&nbsp;role provides exposure to the commissioning process for new public art projects and opportunities to work directly with artists and project partners. Specific tasks are also focused on visitor engagement, interpretive materials, and on-site stewardship.&nbsp;
The intern will work closely with the Curatorial Lead and project teams, contributing to active projects while learning through observation, research, and hands-on support within a complex public setting.&nbsp;

Requirements&nbsp;The Ayesha Bulchandani Curatorial Internship is open to qualified graduate students pursuing a degree in art history. Preference will be given to students with a background in Western art and a demonstrated interest in museum work. Candidates with an interest in 16th–19th-century decorative arts and/or 15th–16th-century Italian art are particularly encouraged to apply. Applicants should be extremely detail oriented, and reading proficiency in French and/or Italian is beneficial. <h3>About the 12-Month Internship Program</h3>
Full-time, 12-month internships with stipends are offered for recent college graduates interested in pursuing a museum career. The focused departmental training is integrated with the fall, spring, and summer lecture series and complemented with financial provisions for the interns to create a research trip related to their field of interest. Additionally, monthly activities are designed specifically for this cohort to receive greater exposure to the museum and art fields.
The Media & Performance Intern will be a part of a larger cohort of interns from various MoMA departments. Twelve-month internships provide training in specific museum fields through close work with professional staff members, familiarity with modern and contemporary art through seminars and discussions, and an educational program that exposes interns to the workings of the Museum as a whole, while considering the role of museums in the broader cultural context.
<h3>More about Media and Performance</h3>
The intern will work with a Curator and the curatorial team on forthcoming major monographic exhibition scheduled for 2028. This exhibition is in a major research and planning phase, with many opportunities to deliver meaningful research and assistance and make meaningful contributions to the project. The intern will also work with an Associate Curator in the department to complete a documentation project, which includes organizing video footage and files, for past Performances at MoMA.
The ideal candidate should have strong research skills, a demonstrated interest working with living artists, strong computer/database skills, and a demonstrated interest in time-based media and performance art.
Required Commitment This program will run from approximately September 14, 2026 to August 27, 2027. This program requires a full-time commitment (Monday-Friday, 9:30am to 5:30pm).
Eligibility Recent graduates of bachelor’s or master’s degree programs. The Museum encourages candidates from all academic disciplines to apply.
Salary $42,000 salary (gross), subject to applicable tax withholdings. Health benefits, two weeks paid vacation, and an additional $2,000 to cover travel expenses for an approved research trip related to the intern’s field of interest.

The Vera List Center for Art and Politics (VLC) is pleased to offer a dynamic and immersive opportunity for a student at The New School. Working closely with and under the supervision of the VLC curatorial team, the Fellow will support curatorial research, exhibition development, and public programming. Given the Center’s small and collaborative structure, the Fellow will work across departments and gain exposure to all facets of VLC’s operations, including publishing, communications, outreach, and stewardship.This fellowship offers in-depth experience in the development of exhibitions, public programs, fellowships, publications, and prize cycles, situated within the VLC’s biennial Focus Theme, <a href="https://www.veralistcenter.org/announcement/2025-2027-matter-of-intelligence-focus-theme-and-open-call" target="_blank">Matter of Intelligence</a>. Through this work, the Fellow will gain insight into the VLC’s interdisciplinary approach, its role within New York City’s cultural landscape, and its national and international networks.The Curatorial Fellow will play an integral role in the planning and execution of Rosana Paulino: ¿História Natural? and the VLC Forum 2026. Brazilian artist and curator Rosana Paulino is the recipient of the VLC’s 2025–2027 Jane Lombard Prize for Art and Social Justice, awarded for her 2016 artist book ¿História Natural?. Opening in early October, the multi-week solo exhibition at The New School will introduce new scholarship on Paulino’s influential practice and foreground her impact in Latin America and beyond. The exhibition will anchor the VLC Forum 2026 (Oct. 9-10), which will convene the Jane Lombard Fellows, a keynote speaker, and invited artists, scholars, and practitioners.A strong interest in social justice, contemporary art, and curatorial practice is essential, as the Fellow will contribute meaningfully to the VLC’s major initiatives for multiple events over several days.About the Vera List Center for Art and PoliticsThe Vera List Center for Art and Politics is an artist-centered organization at The New School that imagines and supports politically-engaged art, public scholarship, research, and community around the world.
