Capable of leading a small team, mentoring engineers, and providing technical guidance. Conducts code reviews and designs and delivers on small projects end-to-end. Develops complex RIS applications and relational databases to include design, writing, installing, documenting, and/or testing (full stack) based on user requirements and analysis using software engineering principals. Must reside within commuting distance from the employer&#39;s College Station, TX office.Essential Duties and Tasks:45% Software Engineer<ul><li>Coordinates and develops large and complex RIS applications, and relational databases to include design, writing, installing, debugging, troubleshooting, documenting, and/or testing (full stack) based on user requirements and analysis using Spring Boot, Angular, Java, PL\SQL.</li></ul> 20% Software Architect<ul><li>Makes recommendations for the improvement of programming tools, code, application structure and strategies as part of the development process.</li><li>Understands and helps with the setup and usage with version control (Bitbucket) and containerization (Podman).</li><li>Conducts code reviews, functional reviews and designs and delivers on projects end-to-end.</li><li>Plays the role of Product Owner for multiple complex Maestro components.</li><li>Makes recommendation for improvement of programming tools and strategies as part of the development process.</li><li>Gives recommendations for the improvement of the code and application structure.</li><li>Provides technical input for coding in accordance with established standards.</li></ul> 20% Development Operations<ul><li>Coordinates efforts to set up, configure, maintain, and administer RIS servers and ensures all code meets security standards.</li><li>Prepares complex RIS systems and program documentation for clients and technical staff.</li><li>Reviews system and program documentation for accuracy and completeness.</li><li>Develops and executes of unit tests and functional tests for MAESTRO modules.</li><li>Responsible for and maintains releases, issues, and issue lifecycle using JIRA.</li></ul> 10% Leadership<ul><li>Leads large and complex RIS components, projects and systems and provides technical guidance.</li><li>Proactively mentors, trains, and develops other employees.</li><li>May supervise software engineers or student employees.</li></ul> 5% Professional Development<ul><li>Keeps current in professional growth. Keeps current on state/university rules and regulations with regards to technical responsibilities. </li><li>Follows policies, procedures, and various standards.  </li></ul>Qualifications Required Education:<ul><li>Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information systems, or a directly related field of study, plus the following experience and requirements:</li></ul>Required Experience:<ul><li>7 Years of experience in Java, PL\SQL, Spring Boot, and Angular; 5 years of experience in Kubernetes; 2 years of experience in Oracle ADF; and experience in using Jenkins and Jenkins pipelines.  Experience may be gained concurrently. </li></ul>Other Skills and Requirements:<ul><li>Ability to lead meetings to discuss project progress and writing detailed technical documentation and reports.</li><li>Ability to manage multiple software development projects simultaneously and collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate software solutions</li><li>Ability to conduct code reviews to maintain high standards of quality and accuracy and ensure software projects are completed on time</li><li>Ability to identify, resolve complex software issues, and develop innovative solutions to improve performance.</li><li>Ability to mentor junior software engineers on best practices.</li></ul>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:<ul><li>Advanced knowledge of programming, software development, database management, server administration, security standards, technical documentation, client needs assessments and applicable regulations.  </li><li>Advanced skills in full stack development, troubleshooting and debugging, problem solving, communication, detail orientation and time management.
