Provide technical and project management expertise to support strategic technology initiatives that are critical to the long-term success of FedEx. These initiatives include development of new capabilities or collaboration opportunities in advanced and emerging technologies space, usually involving participation of two or more FedEx operating companies. Responsibilities can range from enterprise forum facilitation to project management to providing technical and analytical input in assessment and application of advanced/emerging technologies (e.g., autonomous vehicles, robotics and other AI-ML applications) and supporting IT solutions. This includes planning, execution and testing of implementation of emerging technologies in FedEx operations working with technology developers, suppliers, and operations. Essential Functions <ul><li>Support key multi-year strategic initiatives related to emerging technologies (e.g., autonomous vehicles, robotics) by providing technical, IT or ecosystem expertise / consultation during planning, development and testing phases</li><li>Participate in strategic / technical discussions and collaborate in the creation of new ideas / roadmap for future development with cross functional teams, suppliers, vendors, technology developers and operations</li><li>Map and analyze current operations processes, systems and data flows to assess preparedness for deployment of these new technologies.</li><li>Coordinate across IT/Marketing/Operations/Legal/Finance for enterprise system integration or application interfaces</li><li>Support testing activities including test plans and documentation</li><li>Monitor and assess implications of technological, regulatory, cybersecurity, and public acceptance advancements</li><li>Keep abreast of industry / competitive trends, technologies and best practices</li><li>Publish / present technical reports and / or pursue Intellectual property rights where applicable.</li><li>Responsibilities include project management. </li><li>Provide technical and analytical input in assessment and application of advanced technologies (e.g., autonomous vehicles, robotics and other AI-ML applications) and supporting IT solutions. </li><li>Planning, execution, and testing of implementation of emerging technologies in operations working with technology developers, suppliers, and operations. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li></ul>Skills/Knowledge Considered a Plus<ul><li>Data analytics, including Power BI and similar tools used to drive and communicate insights </li><li>Knowledge of a broad set of advanced technologies and their applications for transportation and logistics systems. Examples of technologies include robotics, connected and autonomous vehicles, artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, Internet-of-Things.</li><li>Experience in leading strategic, high-visibility projects, including independently developing executive-level presentations and updates.</li><li>Experience in Design Thinking and Agile/Scrum methodologies, including concept validation / prototype development and testing</li><li>Knowledge/ experience of IT solutions architecture and development processes a plus</li><li>Experience in transportation and logistics a plus</li><li>Understanding of FedEx specific Surface and/or Air station operations</li><li>Material Handling knowledge (Package flow, Material Handling Design, Automation, and/or Processes)</li><li>Strong Project Management skills</li><li>Strong presentation skills to multiple levels of senior management</li><li>Ability to work in a team focused environment</li><li>Master's Degree or related professional designation preferred. </li><li>6+ years of experience facilitating larger programs or multi-function projects, to include providing innovative, forward looking technology leadership and vision in a practical business environment.  </li><li>Familiarity with transportation/logistics industry is a plus.  </li><li>Strong leadership, problem solving, organizational and communications skills required.</li><li>Experience in operations technology deployment, product development or emerging technology research and evaluation.</li></ul> Minimum Education Bachelor’s degree/equivalent in a business, technical or engineering field. Minimum Experience Five (5) years’ experience facilitating larger programs or multi-function projects, to include providing innovative, forward looking technology leadership, and vision in a practical business environment. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Familiarity with transportation/logistics industry. Strong leadership, problem solving, organizational, and communications skills required. Experience in operations technology deployment, product development or emerging technology research and evaluation. Strong problem solving, critical thinking, human relations, and communication skills especially with a diverse group of team members including technicians, software and hardware engineers, managers, and executives (technical and non-technical groups). Preferred Qualifications: This position is eligible for telecommuting and may be located anywhere within the United States excluding AK, HI and U.S. territories.
