Position Title: &nbsp;Software Engineer

Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join our dynamic MarTech team. In this role, you will be a key contributor in designing, developing, and scaling our core marketing technology platform. You will leverage your deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices architecture to build robust and efficient solutions. While this role involves technical leadership within projects, it focuses primarily on individual technical contributions and guiding the team through your expertise.

What you will do:
<ul>
 <li>Lead the technical design and architecture of complex MarTech systems and microservices, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance within assigned projects.</li>
 <li>Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements.</li>
 <li>Provide technical estimations and determine end to end project timelines.</li>
 <li>Strong development skills with a track record of delivering distributed, cloud-based microservices, event-driven architectures and RESTful API’s.</li>
 <li>Develop and maintain scalable applications using Java with Spring Boot.</li>
 <li>Conduct code reviews, identify areas for improvement, and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.</li>
 <li>Manage and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Bamboo and Bitbucket.</li>
 <li>Implement and oversee code quality analysis using SonarQube.</li>
 <li>Conduct comprehensive testing, including TDD approaches for unit and functional testing.</li>
 <li>Utilize Google Cloud services (e.g., Pub/Sub, Cloud SQL) and transactional databases effectively.</li>
 <li>Monitor application performance using tools like Grafana and Newrelic.</li>
 <li>Troubleshoot and resolve production issues swiftly and effectively.</li>
 <li>Proactively evaluate and adopt new technologies and tools to improve the system’s performance, reliability and scalability.</li>
 <li>Ability to guide the engineers, quickly troubleshoot, determine root cause and fix issues in a 24/7 on-call environment.</li>
 <li>Operations experience managing, deploying and maintaining enterprise large scale solutions and drive operational excellence across the organization.

What you will bring:
<ul>
 <li>Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.</li>
 <li>Minimum of 7 years of experience in Java development, Postgres, CloudSQL or equivalent DB technologies with substantial experience in leading engineering projects.</li>
 <li>Excellent communication, presentation and networking skills to partner with cross functional partners.</li>
 <li>Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment with competing priorities.

 <li>Extensive experience working with MarTech technologies.</li>

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

 <li>Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing Build Engineering team, setting clear technical direction and career growth paths.</li>
 <li>Oversee the architecture and implementation of BNY’s central build automation platform, ensuring high availability, reliability, and security.</li>
 <li>Create developer-friendly templates, quick start guides, and troubleshooting tools to help feature teams quickly create performant, transparent, and compliant build automation.</li>
 <li>Optimize developer workflows by streamlining build orchestration, dependency management, and CI/CD pipelines to accelerate software delivery while reducing friction.</li>
 <li>Drive observability and resilience by integrating telemetry, analytics, and automated remediation into build systems to proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks and failures.</li>
 <li>Champion secure software supply chain practices, artifact management standards, and consistent build strategies across the enterprise.</li>
 <li>Partner closely with Product Management, SRE, Security, and application engineering teams to ensure alignment with developer needs and organizational priorities.</li>
 <li>Foster innovation by evaluating and adopting emerging technologies, including AI-assisted build optimization and intelligent failure diagnosis.</li>

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

 <li>Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required; advanced degree preferred</li>
 <li>10+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role managing engineering teams.</li>
 <li>Expert-level competency in one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Java, Go, JavaScript, Python).</li>
 <li>Proven expertise with modern build automation and CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, Bazel, Gradle, Maven).</li>
 <li>Strong technical leadership skills with the ability to set architectural direction and drive complex initiatives across teams.</li>
 <li>Experience delivering large-scale, mission-critical developer platforms in an enterprise or high-scale environment.</li>
 <li>Excellent collaboration and communication skills, able to engage effectively with engineers, architects, and executives.</li>
</ul>
Preferred qualifications include:
<ul>
 <li>Background in Developer Experience (DevEx), Platform Engineering, or Build/Release Engineering.</li>
 <li>Experience with artifact repositories (e.g., Artifactory, Nexus) and secure software supply chain practices.</li>
 <li>Knowledge of observability systems, telemetry frameworks, and performance optimization for build pipelines.</li>
