SummaryAs a Full-Stack Software Engineer in Guidewire’s Product Development &amp; Operations (PDO) organization, you will build and evolve core platform capabilities that power the world’s leading P&amp;C insurers. You’ll design, develop, and operate secure, reliable, and performant services and UIs across the stack, using modern engineering practices, cloud-native architectures, and AI-assisted development. Your work will directly advance PDO’s priorities around operational excellence, AI-infused products, and cloud and data platform adoption. You will join a team that is enabling Guidewire’s enterprise customers and partners to design, configure, and execute at scale insurance products across a wide swath of P&amp;C domain. You’ll contribute to the development and secure, scalable cloud operations of Automation solutions like Autopilot Workflow, Business Rules, Document Processing, and Application Lifecycle Management administrative interfaces. In doing so, you will help Guidewire transform how P&amp;C insurers operate by combining digital, core, analytics, and AI in a cloud platform that puts customer success first.Job Description<h3>What You’ll Do</h3><ul><li>Design, implement, and maintain moderate to complex features across the full stack (backend services and frontend applications) for Guidewire’s core application platform and configuration tooling.</li><li>Translate high-level product and platform problem statements into well-scoped technical designs, proofs of concept, and production-ready solutions with minimal supervision.</li><li>Build secure, performant, and reliable code with comprehensive automated tests, robust logging, metrics, and tracing to support strong observability and fast incident resolution.</li><li>Use AI-assisted development tools (e.g., coding agents, code generation and refactoring assistants) to increase productivity, while upholding high standards for code quality, maintainability, and test coverage—never compromising quality for speed.</li><li>Improve and contribute to CI/CD pipelines (e.g., TeamCity), Kubernetes-based deployment workflows, and DevOps practices to enable faster, safer, and more automated releases.</li><li>Participate in on-call or incident response rotations, efficiently triaging, debugging, and resolving issues in production and lower environments, and driving permanent fixes and post-incident improvements.</li><li>Collaborate closely with product managers, UX designers, architects, and peer engineers across PDO to align on requirements, technical approach, and sequencing against PDO priorities in application platform adoption.</li><li>Support PDO’s operational excellence objectives by contributing to reliability, security, and performance improvements that reduce high-impact incident resolution times and help maintain strong compliance levels.</li><li>Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and retrospectives, offering and receiving feedback in a way that reflects Guidewire’s values of rationality, collegiality, and integrity.</li><li>Continuously learn about P&amp;C insurance domain concepts, cloud-native patterns, and AI capabilities so you can design solutions that are technically sound and industry-relevant.</li></ul><h3></h3><h3>How You’ll Contribute to Guidewire’s Mission</h3><ul><li>Build features that enable our customers to be successful and referenceable, advancing PDO’s goal that every customer realizes measurable value and efficiency from Guidewire solutions.</li><li>Contribute to an engineering culture that emphasizes determination, collaboration, continuous improvement, and bravery—behaviors that underpin Guidewire’s unique culture and support our ambition to be the most trusted P&amp;C insurance platform partner.</li></ul><h3>What We’re Looking For</h3><ul><li>Experience (industry, internships, class projects, or open source) developing web applications or services across the stack, using at least one modern backend language (e.g., Java, Kotlin, C#, Go, or similar) and one modern frontend framework (e.g., React, Angular, or Vue).</li><li>Familiarity with relational databases and basic data modeling; comfort writing and tuning queries.</li><li>Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) and container-based deployment (Docker, Kubernetes) is strongly preferred.</li><li>Interest in or experience with AI-assisted development tools (code generation, refactoring, test creation), and curiosity about how GenAI can improve developer productivity and product capabilities.</li><li>Understanding of core software engineering practices: version control (Git), code reviews, testing strategies (unit, integration, end-to-end), and continuous integration/delivery.</li><li>Ability to break down ambiguous problems, propose pragmatic solutions, and iterate quickly in an Agile environment.</li><li>Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, including working with logs, metrics, and tracing tools to diagnose issues in distributed systems.</li><li>Clear written and verbal communication skills, ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues from different disciplines and geographies.</li><li>A learning mindset and openness to feedback; Your base pay will depend on your experience, skills, education, training, and location among other factors. All full-time positions or part-time roles working 30 hours or more a week at Guidewire are eligible for benefits that support their health and well-being including health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and a company sponsored retirement plan.
