Overview:
Job Summary:The Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) is an execution-focused engineer embedded directly with business, product, and delivery teams to rapidly design, build, and validate high-impact solutions. This role bridges engineering, product, and business, turning problems into working software, pilots, and proofs of value. Focused on Connected, a multi-year strategic program focused on modernizing and digitizing Sales, Recruiting, and Marketing capabilities across Allegis Group and its operating companies. The Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) is a critical execution role within the Connected program, responsible for rapidly deploying technical solutions directly into business workflows to validate value, inform product investment, and accelerate adoption. The FDE operates at the intersection of AI, data, platforms, and user workflows, deploying solutions “forward” into real environments, validating outcomes quickly, and informing scale decisions. This role is critical to evidence first delivery, rapid experimentation, and accelerating enterprise adoption of new capabilities.

Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

Overview/ Job Responsibilities:
Sev1Tech is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Ordnance Information System (OIS) program based in Mechanicsburg, PA, and Yorktown, VA, as they modernize their legacy IT systems. This role will bring strong systems, software, cloud, and SAFE/Agile experience to provide technical expertise on a mission-critical program whose purpose is to develop and modernize OIS mission critical systems. In this hands-on position, you will work collaboratively to architect, design, build, deliver, and enhance highly available, scalable, real-time systems. You will exercise your judgment in determining and recommending the best designs based on customer business objectives, timelines, and other resource constraints. You will participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle of a mission critical product including scope and work estimation, architecture and design, coding and unit testing. The right candidate will be working with our program’s developers, engineers, operations, and integration teams to support a complex program to provide Agile development and operations and maintenance on a mission-critical program. This position is remote but visits to customer site will be required. Currently, customer site visits for Program Increment Planning occur every 10 weeks. Primary Responsibilities: As Senior Software Engineer, you will:<ul><li>Participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle of a mission critical product including scope and work estimation, architecture and design, coding and unit testing, and debugging and maintenance. </li><li>Translate customer needs into user stories and deliver working capabilities at the conclusion of each sprint.</li><li>Ensure software developed passes and completes stages within the CI pipeline.</li><li>Write automated test such as unit, integration, functional, 508, performance, and end-to-end</li><li>Develop in environments that utilize CI/CD tools for build, test, secure and deploy</li><li>Develop in a Docker and Docker Compose environment</li><li>Interface with software developers, analysts, and other project team members using Agile SCRUM methodology and SAFe to deliver features that enhance system capabilities and facilitate NAVSUP OIS’s mission.</li><li>Mentor other software developers on the team to enhance their skills.</li><li>Participate and/or lead sprint demonstrations and facilitate implementation of agreed upon ideas identified at retrospectives.</li><li>Work with others on product teams to develop solutions to hard problems that are impeding progress.</li><li>Effectively communicate technical challenges, options considered, and the recommended solution to team leads. </li></ul>
