Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Junior Application Developer to support the development, maintenance, and enhancement of internal applications used within our manufacturing operations. This role is ideal for an early-career developer with hands-on experience in SQL, Python, and JavaScript who is eager to grow their skills in a real-world, production-focused environment. The position is on-site at our Lexington, MI manufacturing location and will work closely with operations, engineering, and IT teams under the direction of the IT Manager.
Key Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Develop, maintain, and enhance internal applications and tools using Python, JavaScript, and SQL</li>
<li>Write and optimize SQL queries for data retrieval, reporting, and application logic</li>
<li>Assist in designing user interfaces and application workflows that support manufacturing processes</li>
<li>Debug, test, and troubleshoot applications to ensure reliability and performance</li>
<li>Collaborate with senior developers, the IT Manager, and stakeholders to gather requirements and implement solutions</li>
<li>Document application functionality, code changes, and development processes</li>
<li>Support integrations between databases, applications, and manufacturing systems</li>
<li>Follow coding standards, best practices, and version control procedures</li>
</ul>
Required Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Basic to intermediate experience with:</li>
<ul>
<li>SQL (queries, joins, basic optimization)</li>
<li>Python (scripting or application development)</li>
<li>JavaScript (front-end or back-end development)</li>
</ul>
<li>Understanding of fundamental software development concepts</li>
<li>Familiarity with relational databases</li>
<li>Ability to troubleshoot and debug code</li>
<li>Strong problem-solving and analytical skills</li>
<li>Willingness to work on-site in a manufacturing environment in Lexington, MI</li>
<li>Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team</li>
</ul>
Preferred Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Programming</li>
<li>Experience developing internal business or manufacturing applications</li>
<li>Exposure to web frameworks (e.g., Flask, Django, Node.js, or similar)</li>
<li>Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS</li>
<li>Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git)</li>
<li>Understanding of manufacturing or industrial processes is a plus</li>
</ul>
