HOW A PRINCIPAL SYSTEMS ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:<ul><li>Phone support with the customer<ul><li>to resolve issues pertaining to future releases of IMIS</li><li>support issues that arise in the field for current releases of IMIS.</li></ul></li><li>Run vulnerability assessments STIGS/SCAP<ul><li>add additional security controls to reduce the attack surface of the Operating Systems and network equipment </li></ul></li></ul><ul><li>Recommend evaluated hardware based on customer needs. Evaluate the hardware to ensure there are no unwanted features, such as wireless communication features that could be enabled or on by default.</li><li>Make adjustments to Operating Systems and other COTS software to help with configuration management and installation. Create tools to secure operating systems and applications used.</li><li>Make requested changes to COTS software to meet customer intended use.</li><li>Create packages and tools to install, remove, setup, check, etc. the packages provided to the customer.</li><li>Research latest CVEs for software and hardware we use for the customer.</li><li>Create documentation for the latest information about OS patches and CVEs.</li><li>Run vulnerability assessments of lab systems and hardware.</li><li>Update custom STIG tools , add additional security controls to further reduce the attack surface of the Operating Systems and network equipment used on the program.</li><li>Make recommendations to improve security and act on those recommendations when approved.</li><li>Create network environments for testing.</li><li>Troubleshoot  network issues with the systems and assist with field network issues.</li><li>Make configuration changes to templates provided to the customer based on business changes.</li><li>Provide procedures and support to the customer as needed when troubleshooting potential network issues.</li><li>Make recommendations to the customer to provide better security, performance, and redundancy.</li><li>Setup various routing protocols in our lab environment on physical and virtual switches, firewalls, and routers to test various scenarios.</li><li>Contributes to completion of major engineering programs and projects</li><li>Develops solutions to a variety of highly complex engineering problems</li><li>Perform highly complex systems design, development, and integration from the start of a systems life cycle to the end</li><li>Oversees highly complex infrastructure including installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management tools</li><li>Performs highly complex systems modeling, simulation, and analysis</li><li>Performs continual maintenance and provides highly complex solutions for security, backup, and redundancy problems</li><li>Prepares and maintains documentation for processes and procedures related to engineering projects</li><li>Maintains current knowledge of rapidly changing technology and works with management to evolve current processes</li><li>May serve as team lead</li><li>May coach and provide guidance to less experience professionals</li></ul> WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:<ul><li>Education: Bachelors Degree in related IT field</li><li>Required Experience: 8&#43; years of related experience, additional years of experience in lieu of degree can be considered</li></ul>Experience in managing and executing the following:<ul><li>a GitLab repository</li><li>FIPS 140-2, Common Criteria, JSIG Processes, STIG Processes</li><li>Cisco ASA, switching, routing, and configuration</li><li>Software and Hardware Quality Assurance</li><li>Unix, Linux</li><li>Oracle Solaris</li><li>LDAP Integration</li></ul><ul><li>Security Clearance : Secret</li><li>Required Certification: Sec&#43; CE or 8140 equivalent</li><li>Location: Onsite-Bossier City, LA</li><li>US Citizenship required</li></ul> GDIT IS YOUR PLACE:<ul><li>401K with company match</li><li>Comprehensive health and wellness packages</li><li>Internal mobility team dedicated to helping you own your career</li><li>Professional growth opportunities including paid education and certifications</li><li>Cutting-edge technology you can learn from</li><li>Rest and recharge with paid vacation and holidays</li></ul>#GDITpriorityThe likely salary range for this position is $101,546 - $115,000.
