Each type of loading requires strict attention to order accuracy with respect to loading outgoing trucks and unloading incoming trucks. Works from Electronic order system or order sheets to build loads using a forklift and/or electronic pallet jack. Position is responsible for accuracy in loading and complying with shipper/receiver documentation. Follows warehouse instructions in building loads (). Employees must maintain a clean and safe work environment. Position may be required to work across a wide variety of weather conditions and hours, shift duration depends on work load and may vary daily. Transport truck loading involves moving full pallets of products from the warehouse onto a trailer and removing any returned pallets/plastic flats. Responsible for unloading raw materials and placing them in designated warehouse space. Bulk truck loading involves selecting designated packages and flavors of products from the warehouse and loading them onto a pallet. Position is responsible for maintaining the stability of the pallet through proper stacking and shrink-wrapping. In most cases, pallets are loaded onto a trailer for local delivery. Position is responsible for unloading returned products and pallets/plastic flats. Route truck loading involves selecting designated packages and flavors or pallets of products from the warehouse and loading them into the truck. Product/packages for each truck are customized based on the salespersons order. Position is responsible for unloading returned products and pallets/plastic flats. Position requires lifting a very high volume of cases of product per day from 20-45 pounds per case repeatedly during a long work period. Requires constant standing, walking, bending, twisting, squatting reaching and grasping as product is moved. DESCRIPTION
The Equipment Operator II in the Street Department is responsible for operating and maintaining all heavy machinery and equipment used in street maintenance, repair, and construction activities. This role requires skilled operation of various vehicles and machinery to ensure the efficient and safe completion of projects within the city.
QUALIFICATIONS
<ul>
<li style="text-align:justify;">High school diploma or equivalent is required.</li>
<li style="text-align:justify;">Previous experience (1+ year) operating heavy equipment in a construction or municipal setting required.</li>
<li style="text-align:justify;">Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) Class B is preferred, or the ability to obtain one within twelve (12) months of hire as a condition of continued employment.</li>
</ul>
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
<ul>
<li style="text-align:justify;">Knowledge of and ability to operate heavy equipment in a safe manner.</li>
<li style="text-align:justify;">Skills in effective communication to interact professionally with coworkers, supervisors, contractors, members of the public, other organizations, and other city departments.</li>
<li style="text-align:justify;">Skills in strong problem-solving and attention to detail, with the ability to identify issues and implement solutions often independently and without supervision.</li>

MAJOR DUTIES
<ul>
<li style="text-align:justify;">Operate heavy equipment, such as bulldozers, excavators, loaders, graders, and dump trucks, to perform tasks such as excavation, grading, paving, and material transportation.</li>
<li style="text-align:justify;">Follow project plans, blueprints, and instructions from supervisors to ensure accurate and precise execution of construction and maintenance tasks.</li>
<li style="text-align:justify;">Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning, identify any issues or defects requiring repair, and notify the supervisor of mechanical issues immediately.</li>
<li style="text-align:justify;">Load and unload materials, equipment, and supplies onto vehicles and trucks using appropriate methods and equipment, such as cranes, forklifts, or manual labor.</li>
<li style="text-align:justify;">Assist in the installation, repair, and replacement of street infrastructure, such as drainage systems, culverts, and utility lines, as needed.</li>
<li style="text-align:justify;">Adhere to safety protocols, procedures, and regulations to maintain a safe working environment for oneself and others, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).</li>
<li style="text-align:justify;">Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and other team members to coordinate work activities, share information, and address project requirements.</li>
<li style="text-align:justify;">Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reporting related to equipment usage, maintenance activities, and project progress.</li>
<li style="text-align:justify;">Respond to emergency situations, such as natural disasters or severe weather events, to assist in recovery and cleanup efforts as needed</li>
<li style="text-align:justify;">Other duties as assigned.</li>
