Come intern with us in Columbus, TX! Work and train with the industry's finest professionals! Our Intern Program Summer 2026 provides challenging and rewarding work opportunities for college students majoring in Civil Engineering and Construction Management. As an Intern, you will be given the opportunity to apply your academic training and skills in a real-world setting at any number of project locations. In addition, you will assist the project manager, project engineer, and the rest of the on-site construction staff in the application of principles, methods, and techniques of engineering technology by performing any combination of the following duties at a project job site. Field engineer interns will be required to have a working knowledge of the entire project, including plan interpretation, project specifications, project cost code knowledge, and the overall construction schedule. In performing any number or combination of the following tasks, you shall support published corporate policies, set a productive and consistent work example, and be responsible to follow up on all tasks assigned.

What you will be doing:
<ul><li>Assist with evaluation of field conditions and acceptance testing</li><li>Support quality assurance and quality control engineering materials testing</li><li>Apply survey knowledge to assist with project layout and checking of work to confirm work is in conformance with plans and specifications</li><li>Review project drawings and coordinate any design changes</li><li>Provide document control assistance for correspondence, submittals, design releases etc.</li><li>Initiate engineering design clarifications</li><li>Perform quantity tracking and productivity analysis for maximization of operation efficiency</li><li>Assist with preparing and updating project schedule and interact will all involved in scheduling decision processes</li><li>Respond to field for design clarification, and manage subcontractors field operations and verify contract payments</li><li>Provide design assistance to the project engineer for the design of temporary structures using computer aided design tools</li></ul>

Field engineer interns/co-ops are required to be currently enrolled in Engineering, Construction Management or a similar program at an accredited technical college or university.

This position presents a unique opportunity to manage capital and engineering projects and provide assistance to Operations and Maintenance organizations by leveraging cross-functional and intra-departmental expertise while meeting safety, operability, and reliability objectives.<h1>Job Description:</h1><ul><li>Coordinates cross-functional teams to ensure overall project success. </li><li>Identifies, recommends, and implements project management best practices using a stage-gate FEL framework and risk management techniques.</li><li>Provides supervision of project field construction work ensuring EHS excellence in all phases of work. </li><li>Champions and leads strong safety process throughout every phase of the project ensuring all projects are planned and executed in compliance with CF Best Practices/Policies, state, federal and local laws and regulations including plant Process Safety Management (PSM) and Management of Change (MOC) compliance.</li><li>Participates in Process Hazard Analysis and other PSM activities.</li><li>Provides direct technical support and inspection of various new equipment fabrication or refurbishment of existing equipment at the site or at the equipment manufacturing facilities.</li><li>Leads the execution of multiple projects of moderate to high complexity.</li><li>Coordinates and leads in Root Cause Analysis and Failure Analysis studies and recommendations.</li><li>Uses project management framework to achieve technical project objectives delivered safely, on time, and on budget with realized operability and reliability results.</li><li>Regularly measures and monitors project progress to identify variances from the plan and works to make needed corrections</li><li>Provides sponsor and stakeholders with a routine status of projects, actively communicating technical issues and risks, and ensuring that leadership alignment is a priority.</li><li>Ensures that projects meet the operability requirements laid out in the project objectives by the business.</li><li>Accountable for achieving strategic and tactical metrics from internal and external benchmarking, which include safety, operability, cost, and schedule objectives.</li></ul>Position Requirements: <ul><li>Mechanical or Chemical Engineering degree from an ABET accredited institution preferred. Other engineering degrees from ABET accredited institutions with comparable field experience will be considered.
