You’ll gain hands-on experience across the full systems engineering lifecycle, collaborate with multidisciplinary experts, and contribute to projects with global impact. This is an opportunity to grow your technical skills while contributing to mission-critical systems that support global Earth observation and remote sensing programs.Team: KBR, supporting science and space missions, with a focus on innovation and safetyResponsibilities<ul><li>Support the migration of physical and on-premises infrastructure to AWS cloud environments.</li><li>Assist in the development and maintenance of tools for provisioning, monitoring, auditing, and de-provisioning AWS cloud infrastructure using automation tools.</li><li>Work closely with solution architects and engineers to implement secure, scalable, and cost-effective AWS cloud solutions.</li><li>Maintain and optimize CI/CD pipelines using industry-standard tools like GitLab Runners or similar.</li><li>Apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.</li><li>Support the configuration and automation of enterprise environments using tools like Ansible.</li><li>Troubleshoot and provide support for enterprise-based applications in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.</li><li>Contribute to documentation and process improvements to enhance system reliability and efficiency.</li><li>Identify and implement AWS cloud cost optimization strategies, incorporating FinOps principles where applicable.</li><li>Participate in ongoing modernization efforts, refactoring and enhancing enterprise workloads to leverage industry best practices.</li><li>Collaborate within teams, participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, and deliver incremental value through iterative development.</li></ul>Required Skills/Experience<ul><li>Must have three years of continuous residency in the U.S. (required for government security credential).</li><li>Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field.</li><li>Associate-level certification in AWS (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, AWS Certified Developer – Associate).</li><li>Minimum 2 years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or related fields, with a focus on AWS technologies.</li><li>Hands-on experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and automation.</li><li>Strong understanding of cloud security, networking, and best practices for AWS.</li><li>Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, AWS CDK, or AWS CloudFormation.</li><li>Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.</li><li>Scripting proficiency in Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar for automation.</li><li>Demonstrated FinOps ability to reduce cloud spend through cost optimization strategies and practical implementation.</li><li>Experience implementing cost-effective, FinOps-aligned AWS cloud solutions.</li><li>Experience in automating and driving cost efficiencies in on-premises infrastructure.</li></ul>Collaboration and Problem-Solving<ul><li>Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with diverse stakeholders.</li><li>Ability to manage multiple priorities, navigate ambiguity, and deliver high-quality results under pressure.</li></ul>Communication and Documentation<ul><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present recommendations to technical teams.</li><li>Strong technical documentation skills for designing and implementing AWS cloud infrastructure.</li></ul>Preferred Skills/Experience<ul><li>Professional or Specialty certifications in AWS (e.g., AWS Certified Security – Specialty, AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional).</li><li>Terraform Associate certification,</li><li>Familiarity with Agile methodologies and modern software engineering practices is a plus.</li></ul>Special Requirements<ul><li>Three years of continuous U.S. residency for government security credential.</li><li>Ability to obtain and maintain a national agency check and background investigation for government facility access.</li><li>Experience and/or education in lieu of these qualifications may be considered.</li></ul>Benefits<ul><li>Competitive benefits: 401K with match, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, AD&amp;D, flexible spending, disability, paid time off, flexible schedule.</li><li>Career advancement through professional training and development.</li><li>Benefits may be aligned with partner companies for government contracting.</li><li>More details: https://careers.kbr.com/us/en/kbr-benefits?</li></ul>Ready to join KBR and develop your career in cloud engineering while contributing to innovative and impactful projects?
