Performs infection prevention processes to remove all contaminants (blood, tissue, fluids, bioburden, etc.) from surgical instruments, utensils and other surgical items. Maintains a clean and safe environment by adhering to Standard Precautions and Infection Control practices which includes proper Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE), safe chemical handling practices, and body mechanics (i.e. ergonomics, human factors).</span></p><p><br><span>4. Accesses reference materials via computer systems, follows guides and instructions to assemble high volumes of complex instrument and implant trays. Inspects and evaluates instruments for function and cleanliness. Confirms all quality assurance mechanisms are in place. Labels, seals and documents all items processed. Accesses computer systems for purpose of locating, track and tracing medical devices and instrumentation trays.</span></p><p><br><span>5. Performs all aspects of sterilization, packaging inspection, equipment operation, safety procedures, proper documentation, and prioritization. This position will be scheduled Monday-Friday. 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM. This position will be located within the Medical Center North Liberty Campus.</p><p>The CSS Support Technician at the TC Processing location oversees all support duties within this smaller satellite facility. This role includes managing bi-weekly disposable supply orders and ensuring all necessary items are stocked and available. The technician is also responsible for coordinating TC Holding for Completion trays, working closely with ISC staff to ensure that trays are completed promptly.</p><p>In addition, this position requires collaboration with the Support Team to identify and replace missing instruments in trays at the TC location. The technician also serves as a key point of contact for CSS Operations and Nurse Liaisons, helping to troubleshoot and resolve instrument and supply-related issues. They are also responsible for creating instrument equivalencies, building new instruments and products into the tracking system, and completing tray optimization requests to improve efficiency and accuracy in instrument management.</p><p>To further support department operations, the technician is actively involved in updating TC backup locations, removing unnecessary instruments, and creating space for Clinic instruments that do not currently have assigned locations. Additionally, they act as a resource on the assembly floor, providing support and guidance to staff to ensure proper tray assembly and adherence to quality standards. You’ll find meaning and purpose knowing that your work helps make all of Iowa better.</i></span></p><p><span><span>This position will perform the following: under general supervision, performs and has operational responsibility for difficult technical duties involving all aspects of sterile processing: decontamination, preparation, packaging, sterilization, sterile storage, distribution of sterile medical devices and inventorying, stocking and distribution of medical supplies.&nbsp;&nbsp;Provides functional supervision to student and Central Services Technician I staff.</span></span></p><p><span><strong><u>Schedule: </u></strong><span>7am-3:30pm Monday- Friday with rotating weekends, on call, and holidays.</span></span></p><p><br><span><strong><u>CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</u></strong></span></p><p><span>1.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;May serve as lead technician and provides expertise regarding technical procedures related to the preparation of sterile instruments, supplies and equipment for use in medical and surgical procedures. &nbsp;Identifies operational concerns and takes corrective action. &nbsp;Assigns technical duties to personnel and assumes responsibility for accurately completing shift duties. &nbsp;Assesses and monitors staff competency, provides feedback and support to assist with performance evaluations.</span></p><p><span>2.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Monitors productivity in assigned areas according to established standards and procedures. Insures that Quality Assurance tasks are performed.&nbsp;</span><br><span>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</span><br><span>3.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Performs, or may direct performance of, all aspects of training within their area of responsibility and documents employee training progress in training guides.</span><br><span>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</span><br><span>4.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Decontaminates, disassembles, inspects, cleans, sorts, and reassembles highly complex surgical instrument and implant trays, operates automatic scope washers, sonic washers, and mechanical washer/decontaminators. &nbsp;Performs microbicidal processes, standard/transmission based precautions and engineering and work practice controls. &nbsp; &nbsp;Handles large volumes of complex, high dollar flexible scopes, delicate eye instruments, power equipment and different instrument patterns.</span></p><p><span>5.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Interprets manufacturer specifications for care and handling of instrumentation and determines proper sterilization techniques. &nbsp;Inspects and evaluates instruments for proper function and cleanliness. Confirms all quality assurance mechanisms are in place.</span></p><p><span>6.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Performs, or may direct performance of, all aspects of sterilization, packaging inspection, equipment operation, safety procedures, proper documentation, and prioritization. &nbsp;Sterilizes items per manufacturer’s instructions, verifies correct parameters used for all instruments.</span></p><p><span>7.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Assembles, or may direct assembly of, instrument trays in accordance with patient/surgeon procedure specific cards within appropriate time frame and documents missing items. &nbsp; Performs duties in a high stress environment, responds to emergencies and urgent add-on cases. &nbsp;Receives and responds to a high volume of phone calls to provide additional items as needed.</span></p><p><span>8.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Performs, or may direct performance of, inventory management for high volume of supplies and implants.. Monitors the inventory level of instruments and supplies used in the department and obtains replacements when needed. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.</li><li>Performs duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist and Store Manager including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring information is entered correctly,  filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions.  Assists pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining work flow.</li><li>Reports, immediately, prescription errors to pharmacist on duty and adheres to Company policies and procedures in relation to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.</li><li>Strictly adheres to the Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.</li><li>Responsible and accountable for registering all related sales on assigned cash register, collects and handles cash as required.  Takes customer to OTC aisle when possible to assist in locating products.</li><li>Handles telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians.</li><li>Processes (corrects and resubmits) manual claims for third party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner, and performs other clerical duties, as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.</li><li>Assists and supports Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities, such as, ordering, unpacking, checking and storing shipment of pharmaceuticals.  Maintains knowledge of Company asset protection techniques, and files claims for warehouse overages (merchandise received, but not billed), shortages (merchandise billed, but not received), order errors or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.</li><li>May assist pharmacist in administering clinical services including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients and other clinical services as required; assists pharmacy staff in coordination of clinical services, Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.</li><li>Assists Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other health care providers, by medical provider detailing and outreach to health groups, retirement homes, nursing homes, and other forums for enhancing growth opportunities.</li><li>Assists with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring the Pharmacy Department is stocked with adequate supplies, clean, neat and orderly in condition and appearance.</li><li>Complies with all company policies and procedures; maintains respectful relationships with coworkers.</li><li>Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned.</li></ul><br><strong>Training & Personal Development</strong><ul dir="ltr"><li>Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration.  Otherwise, earns PTCB certification as condition of promotion to senior technician.</li><li>Attends training requested by Manager and acquires continuing education credits.  Maintains knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.</li></ul></div><h3>External Basic Qualifications</h3><div><ul dir="ltr"><li>Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
