Essential duties & Responsibilities:  The following is a list that describes the duties to be performed.  Other duties may be assigned.
<ul><li> Responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of assigned equipment on the processing line. Maintain proper safety conditions of equipment and of Company assets.</li><li> Ensure each batch is mixed and processed without deviation. Closely monitor temperatures, processing time, ingredient types and amounts to ensure consistency and quality from batch-to-batch. </li><li> Optimize production efficiencies by performing processing functions in a controlled time frame to ensure that the canning and packaging departments have the right product at the right time.</li><li> Accurately mix and blend in accordance with Manufacturing Batch Records (MBRs). </li><li> Perform adjustments to processing equipment to run varied types of products.</li><li> Operate computer controls to monitor process flow status and automated processing equipment. Demonstrate proficiency of knowledge of process flow, receiving operations, equipment operations, destoners, blanchers, grinders, hydration systems, mix kettles, sauce kettles and C.I.P. systems.</li><li> Request product and materials to assure that the Business Unit goals and customer orders are achieved in a timely fashion.</li><li> Complete assigned paperwork daily. Document all required operational checks.  Properly date and sign all required charts, graphs, and paperwork.  These checks are considered legal documents and are required by the FDA.  Accurately complete all documentation associated with production and flavor changes.  Maintain accurate records and logs as required.  </li><li> Perform proper sanitation, sterilization, equipment C.I.P. and proper cleanliness procedures of the workstation and processing system. Clean and sanitize machines to meet legal and quality standards.  Maintain a clean, organized work area respecting GMP's.</li><li> Assist the maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanical and processing problems. Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks and corrective work orders, and work with other support personnel when operational problems occur. Provide data and information to support personnel, such as maintenance, to facilitate the effectiveness of their performance. </li><li> Identify and correct equipment problems to maximize production efficiencies, and report potential equipment problems to maintenance</li><li> Maintain accurate documentation of daily reports; forklift checklists, chemical usage logs, product spill logs; process time and temperatures, pressures, settings, batches, and deviations.</li><li> Pre-stage ingredients for processing, including dividing ingredient batches into appropriate size lots (fractions). Properly weigh and label staged ingredients.  Use scales and read/understand both English and Metric units (pounds and grams).  Document lot numbers and quantities used plus properly label all fractions.</li><li> Responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of assigned processing equipment. Maintain proper safety conditions of equipment and of Company assets.</li><li> Responsible as replacement operator to cover shift during vacation time, personal time, or other time away from work following the crewing procedures.</li><li> Be an active participant in Business Unit team meetings and other Plant meetings by communicating timely and pertinent data when appropriate, and active involvement in analyzing, recommending, and implementing solutions to problems within the Business Unit and the Plant.</li><li> Ensure a smooth shift change transition (i.e., communicate problems/issues regarding operating equipment, upcoming quantity/flavor changes, review quality inspections, etc.) </li><li> Maintain OSHA Certified Forklift License (if applicable).</li><li> Train new employees and co-workers.</li><li> Comply with area Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Quality Assurance Parameters (QAPs), Good Manufacturing Process (GMPs) Procedures, and Safe Quality Foods (SQF) Standards. Be knowledgeable in all required Quality Assurance checks and in HACCP related items.</li><li> Rotate positions with other Processing Team Members. Cross-train and achieve equipment operation certifications on all equipment within the Business Unit.</li><li> Ensure that job operations maintain or improve product quality. Stop and correct job operation if product quality is affected negatively. </li><li> Work daily overtime and weekends as required.</li><li> Complies with all company policies and procedures and adhering to company standards. </li><li> Responsible to comply with all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) as well as strict observance of all safety rules.</li><li> Able to meet all attendance requirements in accordance with Company’s Attendance Policy.</li><li> Able to lift and carry up to 65lbs consistently.</li><li> Effectively cooperate with direct supervision as well as maintain professional and cooperative relationships across all levels within the Company.</li></ul>

Reading Skills: The ability to explain how something works based on text which relates the sequence of steps or stages in a cycle or process described in the text.  Employees must be able to use information from a timeline/schedule chart to solve a simple scheduling problem.
Writing aptitude: To convey business messages as written notes to pass on routine information, make requests, or respond to recommendations and warnings.  Ability to reproduce information received orally or visually and can take simple notes from short oral presentations or from reference materials.
Mathematical skills: The ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Mathematical skills also include the ability to perform the above operations using units of American measurement, weight, and volume measurements. Employee must be able to accurately record and chart results and operate a calculator to determine sums, averages, and ranges.
Reasoning ability: The process to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations by thinking about something in a logical way in order to form a conclusion or judgment.
Physical Demand: The physical demands described here are representatives of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The primary responsibility of the Processing Technician is to operate processing equipment to include dry bean unloading, hydration systems, dewatering belts and reels, destoners, blanchers, grinders, mix and sauce kettles.  The position involves supporting processing operations to ensure proper mixing of ingredients to exact measurements and specifications in accordance with a Manufacturing Batch Record.  Accurately prepare and maintain production and quality documentation, and perform required sanitation and sterilization of processing systems.  Participate as a Team Member of their assigned Business Unit.  Direction is provided by the Shift Manager who coordinates the activities of Team members involved in the canning of product for their assigned Business Unit.  The Business Unit goals are consistent with company goals and business unit Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) to include safety, quality, efficiency, productivity and customer service.

Because at Solventum, we never stop solving for you.The Impact You’ll Make in this RoleAs a Global Process Technology Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world.  Here, you will make an impact by:<ul><li>Driving innovation within our operations using both internal and external technologies primarily in the care of:<ul><li>Batch Chemical/Polymer Processing</li><li>Emulsion Processing</li><li>Chemical Synthesis</li><li>Particle Mills</li></ul></li><li>Supporting high impact new product commercialization programs and fast paced capital improvement projects through process development.</li><li>Leading process development and process validation for new and existing products. Developing cost estimates and manufacturing plans to enable efficient production at scale.</li><li>Working with/developing breakthrough technology to enable efficient production at scale</li><li>Providing technical support and leadership direction for both Tier I and II suppliers for outsourced/contract manufacturing.</li></ul>Your Skills and Expertise  To set you up for success in this role from day one, Solventum requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:<ul><li>Bachelor’s Degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution</li></ul>Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:<ul><li>Two (2) years of manufacturing engineering experience in a private, public, government or military environment.</li><li>Proven ability to translate business and supply chain needs into workable technology solutions for global supply chain.</li><li>Packaging/Filling/Dispensing Technology experience</li><li>Web handling (roll to roll technologies)/extruding/coating/converting/packaging experience</li><li>Ability to drive OEE and TEEP to established entitlement levels on critical assets.</li><li>Passion for technology; curious with a growth mindset</li><li>Demonstrated strength in process and manufacturing engineering problem solving and cross-functional project management skills</li><li>Skills include written, oral, and technical communication skills, self-starter, results driven behavior</li></ul>Work location: Eagan, MN<ul><li>Hybrid Eligible (Job Duties allow for some remote work; may require onsite work at least 2 days per week at our Eagan, MN location)</li></ul>Travel: May include up to 25% domestic/internationalRelocation Assistance: May be authorizedMust be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).Supporting Your Well-being Solventum offers many programs to help you live your best life – both physically and financially.
