Responsibilities: 
Safety: 
• Understand and adhere to company safe work policies.
• Follow Lone Worker Requirements.
• Promote a safe work environment.
• Report safety incidents and near misses.
• Report any unsafe conditions, environmental concerns, and process problems to management immediately.
• Contribute to the improvement of the Safety, Health, Environment and Quality programs.
• Apply the HWP process, LOTO and energy isolation procedures as required for company and contractor personnel.
• Follow EMOC procedure for all changes to process and operating procedures.
• Maintain site orderliness.
• Perform safety indoctrinations for contractors. 
Reliability: 
• Utilize web-based maintenance management system to execute, document and continuously improve equipment preventative and corrective maintenance strategy.
• Maintain plant spares inventory and raise gaps to management attention
• Follow work instructions and annotate with feedback.
• Calibration, configuration, or replacement of field instrumentation devices.
• Perform and document process and product analyzers calibration checks.
• Efficiently troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment control circuits.
• Efficiently troubleshoot and repair process control equipment.
• Set up and safely operate all tools and equipment necessary to perform assigned work.
• Functionally test or troubleshoot instrument or electrical control loops through to field devices to verify proper operation.
• Calibrate custody meters and manage documentation.
• Effectively prioritize and schedule all work activities. 
Process Operation and Efficiency: 
• Lead Shutdowns, Start-ups, Derime, and production state changes for plant(s) in area.
• Apply the Hazardous Work Permit (HWP) process, Lock Out, Tag Out (LOTO) and energy isolation procedures
• Follow EMOC procedure for all changes to process and operating procedures
• Maintain site security and maintain site orderliness
• Perform safety indoctrinations for contractors
• Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management System 
• Perform and document process and product analyzers calibration checks
• Troubleshoot process problems to identify equipment requiring maintenance
• Perform water treatment tasks
• Document activities and data in plant logbook and SAP system
• Direct and monitor contractors
• Participate in safety committee activities
• Complete all training activities according to schedule and meet annual performance goals
• Accept on call duty and overtime as required 
Administrative and Managerial: 
• Follow all Quality Control requirements to ensure a quality product is delivered to Messer’s customers. 
Meet FDA requirements where applicable: 
• Maintain a Shutdown and Turnaround work list and schedule, efficiently use of downtime.
• Maintain open continuous line of communication with manager.
• Maintain orderly and clean work area and vehicle(s).
• Direct and monitor contractors.
• Lead and participate in operations and safety meetings.
• Participate in safety committee activities as required. (drill planning, energy isolation reviews, etc.)
• Support entry level technicians through coaching and mentoring. 
Required Skills:

Basic Qualifications:

• Associates Degree or certificate in a technical discipline or recent military training in a technical field preferred
Physical Requirements:  
• Physically able to perform all duties required which may involve among other things: bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing ladders, and lifting and carrying loads of up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to climb to heights over 200 ft above grade and work effectively.

Summary Description

Guardian Rail is proud to operate one of the country&rsquo;s leading freight rail services and transportation companies with a large network of freight and tank car repair facilities, a nationwide network of running repair agents, and a rail services division that operates short line railroads and contract switching and transloading sites.&nbsp; We are currently seeking experienced Tank Car Repair Technicians in our Amarillo facility.

Incumbents will use mechanical skills to safely inspect and repair railcars to customer and industry specifications.&nbsp; We seek candidates with rail industry or other heavy industrial experience, including welding or mechanical assembly.

We offer a sign on/retention bonus of $1,500, payable over the first 12 months of employment and a competitive pay scale based on skills and relevant experience.&nbsp; Candidates must have a safety and quality mindset and enjoy hands-on work in year-round outdoor conditions.

Duties and Responsibilities

<ul>
	<li>Perform railcar&nbsp;repairs in compliance with FRA and AAR rules</li>
	<li>Learn and adhere to all Guardian&nbsp;Rail safety procedures</li>
	<li>Keep work area in a clean and orderly manner so as to comply with Guardian&nbsp;Rail, OSHA and environmental rules and regulations</li>
	<li>Follow written and verbal directions</li>
	<li>Work effectively in a team environment</li>
	<li>Possess a thorough understanding of railcar and tank car, components and/or shop work order</li>
	<li>Understand inventory control</li>
	<li>Assist in disassembly of damaged railcars and tank cars</li>
	<li>Apply FRA, AAR Interchange Rules when repairing railcars and tank cars</li>
	<li>Maintain a high level of quality with an understanding of Guardian Rail&#39;s Quality Assurance Program.</li>
	<li>Perform repairs such as, but not limited to, basic mechanics, grinding, and touch-up painting and decaling on various types of railcars or tank cars as required</li>
	<li>Set up and operate various hand and power tools such as, but not limited to, air arc, plasma cutting, Huck and welding machines and processes, and oxy fuel operation in heating and cutting processes</li>
	<li>Comply with company&#39;s Safety Program by following all in-house and OSHA rules, regulations and procedures</li>
	<li>Comply with company&#39;s Quality Program by following all in-house quality processes and procedures and required AAR and FRA rules and regulations as well as any client specific procedures</li>
	<li>Complete documented training to set up and operate or drive equipment such as, but not limited to: forklift, manlift, crane, backhoe, skid loader, hoist or hydraulic boom</li>
	<li>Meet the requirements of AWS D15.1 for freight car and MSRP C-III Appendix R &amp; W for tank car utilizing GMAW (Hard wire), FCAW (Flux Core) and/or SMAW (Stick) welding on carbon steel as well as our internal welding technology training and examination</li>
