We are seeking a highly motivated Programmer Developer to join our IT Apps Reliability team.  As a Programmer Developer, you will be responsible for overseeing application administration, maintenance, development, testing, software release management, upgrades, security, compliance, and production support for the IT Reliability & Operations Support teams.. These applications are critical to maintaining operational reliability and driving efficiency for SPP engineers and operators, while ensuring transparent, data-driven insights that empower informed decisions for our members and customers.
Our application suite includes both third-party software and custom-developed solutions, with a primary focus on software administration, development, and real-time support for these critical applications. You will also have the opportunity to innovate by developing and expanding integration and automation solutions to enhance the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for both third-party and custom applications. This role plays a crucial part in delivering highly available software solutions that meet the uptime demands critical to the Operations Support organization and the bulk electric system.
Essential Functions:

<li>Install, configure, maintain, and support assigned application systems</li>
<li>Monitor, investigate, and resolve system issues or abnormalities to ensure systems operate per requirements</li>
<li>Acknowledge and remediate customer-reported issues and inquiries in a timely manner</li>
<li>Participate in a 24x7/365 on-call rotation</li>
<li>Multi-task, problem-solve, and demonstrate the ability to understand complex, highly integrated systems</li>
<li>Demonstrate detailed knowledge of assigned applications or interfaces and serve as a Subject Matter Expert</li>
<li>Maintain a comprehensive understanding of business and technical requirements for assigned systems and a working knowledge of other supported systems</li>
<li>Engage in all applicable phases of the SDLC and project lifecycle, including requirements and design, testing, non-production support, release deployment, and coordination of implementation plans across teams, vendors, and stakeholders</li>

you will play a critical role in supporting and maintaining the mission-critical applications that are essential for SPP’s System Operations team in overseeing the bulk electric grid and wholesale power markets within SPP's extensive footprint.
The IT Markets team is responsible for the performance, optimization, and reliability of these applications, which are crucial for the day-to-day operations of the electric grid and power markets. In this role, you will be tasked with optimizing the performance and efficiency of various applications and processes, ensuring that they continue to meet the needs of our operational teams. We are looking for a talented Programmer Developer to join our IT Markets team. As key contributor you will:
You will play a critical role in supporting and maintaining the mission-critical applications that are essential for SPP’s System Operations team in overseeing the bulk electric grid and wholesale power markets within SPP's extensive footprint.
The IT Markets team is responsible for the performance, optimization, and reliability of these applications, which are crucial for the day-to-day operations of the electric grid and power markets. In this role, you will be tasked with optimizing the performance and efficiency of various applications and processes, ensuring that they continue to meet the needs of our operational teams. You will also collaborate with a wide range of subject matter experts from across the IT department to develop and implement technical solutions to any challenges that may arise, ensuring the continued success of the systems we support.
Your specific duties will include providing support for the real-time Market Operating System, ensuring that it operates seamlessly and efficiently. Additionally, you will be an active participant in a 24/7 on-call rotation, which is essential to maintaining the continuous operation of these critical systems. To be successful as the Programmer Developer II or Senior, we're looking for:

<li>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an Information Technology-related field or equivalent job-related experience</li>
<li>Senior Level: Six (6) years of applicable Information Technology development and support  experience; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience</li>
<li>Level II: Three (3) years of Information Technology Development/Support experience</li>
<li>Expert working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, UNIX or Linux operating systems, application development and support, and database management systems</li>
<li>Expert in one or more modern programming languages</li>
