Oversee files of impoundments and dispositions of animals.  Properly collect monies due to the city for services associated with impoundment.</li><li>Deliver lectures to public to stimulate interest in animals and communicate humane philosophy to public. </li><li>Operate euthanasia equipment to destroy animals. </li><li>Investigate complaints of animal neglect or cruelty and follow up on complaints appearing to justify prosecution. </li><li>Issue citations and provide court testimony as needed.</li><li>Observe and examine animals to detect signs of illness and determine need of services from veterinarian.</li><li>Maintain the facilities, including the office, grounds, vehicles, and equipment.</li><li>Implement organizational and departmental policies, procedures, and service standards in conjunction with management. </li><li>Analyze internal processes and recommend and implement procedural or policy changes to improve operations. </li><li>Set goals and deadlines for the department.</li><li>Select, train, and review personnel.  </li><li>Evaluate the work of staff to ensure that work is of appropriate quality and that manpower resources are used effectively when holding facility is not occupied.
