Kidwell is looking for a hard-working, positive, and self-motivated individual to join our team as a Summer Application Specialist Intern. This internship is a summer-only, full-time opportunity designed for students pursuing a degree in Computer Science or a related field who are eager to gain hands-on experience in software development, API integration and AI/ML initiatives.
The primary function of this position will be to support the Application Specialist in developing and integrating software solutions across the organization. The intern will contribute to real-world technical projects, including a focused AI/ML initiative. Other tasks and responsibilities will depend on the intern’s abilities and the needs of the department.
This is a unique opportunity to gain real-world experience in API development and AI/ML applications while working alongside experienced professionals in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities
·         Assist in analyzing, designing, and supporting RESTful APIs and software integration.
·         Write and optimize SQL queries to support reporting, automation, and application functionality.
·         Develop and test Python-based scripts and applications.
·         Assist with converting SQL queries into API calls using JSON or XML.
·         Support troubleshooting efforts and help identify opportunities for process improvements.
·         Participate in the development lifecycle - including testing, documentation, and implementation.
·         Complete a summer AI/ML-focused project that may include data analysis, predictive modeling, or automation initiatives.
·         Complete special technical projects and other miscellaneous assignments as needed.
 
 
 Required Qualifications
·         Candidates must currently be working toward a Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
·         Working knowledge of Python and SQL is required.
·         Coursework or a minor in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or Data Science is preferred.
·         Basic understanding of RESTful APIs, object-oriented programming, and database structures is preferred.
·         Honesty, dependability, organization, and strong attention to detail are essential to this position.
·         Possesses strong verbal, written, communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
·         Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with technical and non-technical team members.

This position is an Office role, which requires an employee to work onsite, on average, 3 days per week. We are open to candidates located near one of the following office locations: Minnetonka, MN, Madison, WI, Omaha, NE, or St. Louis, MO.
The full hourly pay range for this position is $16.40 - $21.10. While the full salary grade is provided, the typical hiring salary range for this role is expected to be between $34,100 - $38,430. Annual salary range placement will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, education, work experience, applicable certifications and/or licensure, the position's scope and responsibility, internal pay equity and external market salary data.  In addition to compensation, Medica offers a generous total rewards package that includes competitive medical, dental, vision, PTO, Holidays, paid volunteer time off, 401K contributions, caregiver services and many other benefits to support our employees.
