Senior Thermal Engineer

Lead thermal design and modeling of heat exchangers; 7+ years in heat transfer; BS in Mechanical; Python/MATLAB; experience with HVAC/refrigeration.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Test Engineer will perform the following functions:
1. Develop, implement and support test processes for the Production of a variety of products including Servers, switches and storage devices
2. Develop techniques to troubleshoot failing systems as quickly and efficiently as possible
3. Create work instructions and update online documentation for testing, troubleshooting, and repairing all CCBU products assembled at QMN
4. Train production technicians to test, troubleshoot and repair CCBU products manufactured at QMN. This will entail managing several test projects simultaneously. 
 
Test Engineer will be expected to drive test process efficiency improvements reducing Time-to-Fail and overall test time while maintaining integrity of test and quality of product shipped. 
 
Support the launch of new products at QMN.  Work closely with the end customers, corporate R&D, Test Development, and Manufacturing teams to analyze test data, troubleshoot, and identify product defects, verify fixes and document test results.  Communicate product readiness, level of quality, and results to project team.
 
·         Engineering Failure Analysis on product issues identified in field
·         Assist with reporting test data to management as required
·         Set up/maintain the Test Servers and Network in conjunction with IT group

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?<ul><li>Define and drive the technical architecture and technology strategy for industrial automation applications.</li><li>Lead architectural design decisions, ensuring solutions are scalable, resilient, secure, and future‑ready.</li><li>Act as a technical mentor and advisor to software engineers through code reviews, design guidance, and standards enforcement.</li><li>Translate unclear or high‑level business requirements into clear, well‑documented technical designs.</li><li>Partner with internal customers to assess feasibility, scope work, and establish realistic timelines.</li><li>Establish, document, and continuously improve engineering standards, best practices, and governance frameworks.</li><li>Guide system integration across cloud platforms, APIs, automation hardware, and enterprise applications.</li><li>Support deployment, monitoring, performance tuning, and long‑term optimization of applications.</li><li>Collaborate with other architects to contribute to the application portfolio roadmap.</li><li>Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend new tools, methodologies, and platforms.</li></ul>What does success look like?<ul><li>You are a trusted technical reference for both engineers and management.</li><li>Engineering teams benefit from clearer architecture, better standards, and stronger guidance.</li><li>Business stakeholders receive realistic, well‑communicated solutions to complex problems.</li><li>Applications are more scalable, maintainable, and aligned with long‑term strategy.</li></ul>What are the requirements needed for this position? <ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.</li><li>10&#43; years of experience in software development, with 4&#43; years in a senior‑level architecture role.</li><li>Proven experience designing and implementing complex, scalable software systems, ideally in industrial or automation environments.</li><li>Strong experience with Python, C#, Azure are required. Experience with C&#43;&#43;, GO or similar languages are a plus.</li></ul><ul><li>Strong expertise in:<ul><li>Software architecture and design patterns</li><li>Microservices and Domain‑Driven Design (DDD)</li><li>API design (REST, GraphQL) and enterprise integration patterns</li><li>Cloud‑based solutions (Azure experience strongly preferred)</li></ul></li><li>Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.</li><li>Strong documentation skills and the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide engineers with patience and professionalism.</li></ul>What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?<ul><li>Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.</li><li>Experience integrating with industrial systems such as PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, or industrial communication protocols (Modbus, OPC‑UA, EtherCAT).</li><li>Experience with machine vision systems, ML model integration, or real‑time data processing.</li><li>Familiarity with Industry 4.0 initiatives (IoT, digital twins, advanced analytics).</li><li>Prior experience in global, multi‑site environments.</li></ul>#AssurantProudJR#LI-Hybrid<ul></ul>Pay Range:$122,400.00 - $204,400.00Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.If there is no posting end date listed then this is a pipeline requisition, and we will continue to collect applications on an ongoing basis.Helping People Thrive in a Connected World Connect with us.
