To accomplish this mission, we are committed to attracting and retaining the best talent and an engaged and thriving workforce that drives a sustainable future for our company and society.<br /><br /></div><div>Working at IPG Photonics you can expect challenging projects, a motivating and friendly environment, and competitive benefits.<br /><br /></div><div><strong>JOB SUMMARY</strong></div><div>The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for the planning and development of software solutions for standard laser systems.  They will also plan and develop customized applications that leverage the API of commercial software used by the company, such as Visual Components.  They will lead other engineers and work collaboratively with management, Automation System Engineers and Simulation Engineers.<br /><br /></div><div><strong>JOB FUNCTIONS:</strong></div><div><strong>Duties/Responsibilities:</strong></div><ul><li>Create software plans and roadmaps for standard systems.</li><li>Develop software programs for standard systems.</li><li>Develop software specifications and guide other engineers in fulfilling requirements during projects.</li><li>Read, understand, test, debug and improve existing software.</li><li>Lead and participate in cross-functional software reviews.</li><li>Develop and maintain Visual Components Customizations (Commands and Behavior Scripts).</li><li>Collaborate with Simulation, Design and Project team personnel to complete development assignments.</li><li>Maintain project records in designated folders in a timely manner.</li><li>Complete work activities within project hours allotted and project schedule.</li><li>Participate in cost reduction and value improvement initiatives on standard systems.</li><li>Participate in continuous improvement activities of the company.</li><li>Review and provide input to development plans when requested.</li><li>Performs other related work and special projects as directed by management.</li><li>Obeys company policies and procedures and observes all safety regulations.</li></ul><div><br /></div><div><strong>QUALIFICATIONS:</strong></div><div><strong>Education:</strong></div><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent.</li></ul><div><strong>Experience:</strong></div><ul><li>A minimum of 8 years related experience required.</li><li>An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.</li><li>Expertise with programming languages such as Python, C# and C++.</li><li>Expertise developing Web Forms with React, Javascript, Electron, HTML or CSS.</li><li>Expertise with full-stack development and GraphQL.</li><li>Expertise with Visual Studio or similar IDE.</li><li>Expertise with Microsoft Office suite of software.</li><li>Proficiency with PLC programming and industrial control systems.</li><li>Proficiency with manufacturing processes and automation.</li><li>Proficiency with laser equipment, processes and applications is very beneficial.</li></ul><div><strong>Required Abilities:</strong></div><ul><li>Ability to write and debug complex software programs in languages listed above.</li><li>Creativity to explore multiple viable solutions and evaluate strengths and weaknesses of those options.</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the technical arena.</li><li>Excellent organizational skills.</li><li>Detail oriented and thorough in executing responsibilities.</li><li>Effective working on multiple projects concurrently.</li><li>Ability to deliver results under pressure of a sale and/or a project schedule.</li><li>Trustworthy and reliable team player.</li><li>Ability to work with minimal supervision.</li></ul><div><strong>Physical Requirements:</strong></div><ul><li>Ability to work in a stationary position while programming and using software for extended periods of time.</li><li>Ability to work within the manufacturing environment frequently while testing software, troubleshooting controls, investigating issues.</li><li>Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder while working in the manufacturing environment.</li></ul><div><br /></div><div><strong>Pay Range</strong>:</div><div>The pay range on this posting applies to the role in the primary location specified.
