DescriptionPosition Summary:A Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) will evaluate and treat residents/patients with temporary or long-term speech, hearing, swallowing, and cognitive disabilities in compliance with state and federal guidelines. They will evaluate the resident’s/patient’s speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, swallowing, and fluency and develop treatment plans. They will treat the residents/patients based on a physician’s treatment plan. Essential Functions<ul><li>Screens and evaluates patients/residents and develops appropriate care plan.</li><li>Under a physician's direction, provides direct patient/resident treatment based on established plan of care.</li><li>Plans, directs, or conducts rehabilitative treatment programs to restore communicative efficiency of individuals with communication and/or swallowing or cognitive problems.</li><li>Administers, scores, and interprets specialized hearing and speech tests.</li><li>Instructs residents/patients, families, and caregivers to monitor speech and provide ways to practice new skills.</li><li>Completes required forms and clinical records in accordance with company policy and state and/or federal regulations.</li><li>Documents in patient records in an accurate and timely manner.</li><li>Devises special tools and treatments for the specific needs of patients.</li><li>Provides comprehensive and compassionate therapy services in a sub-acute/skilled nursing facility setting.</li><li>Works collaboratively with other rehab therapists and nursing staff in a supportive team-working environment.</li><li>Maintains resident/patient privacy pursuant to HIPAA.</li><li>Ensures punctuality and regular attendance for assigned shifts.</li></ul> Other Functions<ul><li>Develops treatment plans, including short and long-term goals and methods to achieve identified goals.</li><li>Communicates the resident’s/patient’s speech therapy program to the family and/or guardian.&nbsp;</li><li>Keeps written documentation including evaluations, daily notes and weekly summaries.</li><li>Performs other duties as assigned.</li></ul>Knowledge/Skills/Abilities<ul><li>Current knowledge of effective speech therapy techniques.</li><li>Familiarity with clinical needs of geriatric population.</li><li>Strong clinical capabilities.</li></ul> RequirementsQualifications Education:&nbsp;&nbsp;Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology required. Licenses/Certification:&nbsp;&nbsp;Current license in Speech Language Therapy as required by state law.Valid CPR certification required. Experience:&nbsp;Six months experience in a long-term care environment preferred.

BS in Speech Language Pathology; current state license; CPR certification; 6 months LTC experience preferred.

DEFINITION OF POSITION: The Speech Language Pathologist provides diagnostic, therapeutic, consultative, and supervisory services for students with special needs in the area of communication.

 REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

<li>Possess a Washington State Educational Staff Associate Certificate with a School Speech Language Pathologist endorsement</li>
<li>Master&rsquo;s Degree in Speech Language Pathology</li>
<li>Possess a current, valid driver&rsquo;s license and provide own transportation</li>
</ul>
PREFERRED QUALITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:
<ul>
<li>Completion and maintenance of Certificate of Clinical Competence Speech Language Pathology (CCC&rsquo;s in SLP)</li>
</ul>
ESSENTIAL JOB-RELATED ACTIVITIES:
<ul>
<li>Serve as a team leader for students with Communication Disorders as the primary focus of concern/disability</li>
<li>Screen and identify students with suspected communication disorders</li>
<li>Complete diagnostic assessments</li>
<li>Provide diagnosis of communication disorders</li>
<li>Design and implement efficient and effective specially designed instruction (articulation, expressive and receptive language, fluency, voice, etc.) for students within a public school setting including preschool</li>
<li>Be knowledgeable of, understand, and comply with regulations for special needs students</li>
<li>Experience writing Individualized Education programs (IEP), including working knowledge of social and behavioral language goals, specific task analysis skills, and ability to write measurable annual goals and objectives</li>
<li>Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating and consulting with team, family members, and agencies as needed</li>
<li>Maintain a system of record keeping for monitoring student progress and reporting</li>
<li>Be proficient in the use of IEP Online web-based program for students&rsquo; IEP records</li>
<li>Participate in professional development activities</li>
<li>Possess and practice strong interpersonal skills with a wide variety of people both inside and outside the organization (staff, parents, community members, other agencies, etc.)</li>
<li>Be a positive team builder who works in a collaborative manner</li>
<li>Meet multiple demands in pressure situations and maintain high levels of quality work</li>
<li>Maintain confidentiality</li>
<li>Communicate clearly, both orally and in writing</li>
<li>Ability to work a flexible schedule with minimal supervision and travel between buildings</li>
</ul>
TERMS OF CONTRACT:
<ul>
<li>Salary: $56,701 - $106,871 per year, placement based on experience and level of education</li>
<li>Length of Contract: 1.0 FTE, 180 days base contract plus professional development days</li>
<li>Leaves/Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, life and long-term disability coverage is provided through SEBB (School Employee Benefits Board) for employees who work at least 630 hours per academic year. Retirement benefits are provided through the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS). Additional benefits may include sick/emergency leave and personal leave as per the collective bargaining agreement between the Pullman Education Association (PEA) and the Pullman School District (<a href="https://files.smartsites.parentsquare.com/6642/pullman_education_association_agreement_2025-2028.pdf">PEA Bargaining Agreement</a>).</li>
