Position Overview:
The Regional Technical Training and Development Manager will work with the People and Safety teams in designing, implementing, and managing comprehensive learning and development programs aimed at enhancing the technical skills, safety practices, and service delivery of Field Leaders within their region. This role plays a critical role in ensuring that all Field Leaders are equipped with the necessary skills to meet company standards for maintenance and repair of elevators, escalators, and other vertical transportation systems.
This role also ensures that Field Leaders meet certification and licensing requirements, including supporting teammates through Certified Elevator Technician (CET) certification programs, overseeing mechanic licensing, and managing apprenticeship programs that cultivate the next generation of elevator professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Training Program Development:</li>
<ul>
<li>Partner with the People and Safety teams to design and develop training programs and materials focused on technical skills, safety protocols, and industry standards for elevator systems.</li>
<li>Drive the CET certification process, ensuring they are fully prepared to pass exams and meet required qualifications.</li>
<li>Oversee the apprenticeship program, mentoring Apprentices and ensuring they receive the necessary support, technical instruction, and on-the-job training to advance their careers.</li>
<li>Prepare Field Leaders for mechanic licensing requirements in their state or local region, including guidance on regulatory exams and compliance processes.</li>
<li>Continuously assess and update training materials based on evolving technologies and industry changes.</li>
</ul>
</ul>
 
<ul>
<li>Field Leader Training:</li>
<ul>
<li>Conduct hands-on and classroom-based training for new hires and existing Field Leaders, covering maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.</li>
<li>Provide refresher courses to reinforce safety practices</li>
<li>Organize and facilitate on-the-job training (OJT) sessions for continuous learning and development.</li>
</ul>
</ul>
 
<ul>
<li>Performance Monitoring and Improvement:</li>
<ul>
<li>Evaluate the performance of Field Leaders during and after training to assess skill levels and identify areas for improvement.</li>
<li>Develop individualized training plans to address gaps in knowledge or skills.</li>
<li>Track and report training outcomes and improvements in field operations performance to management.</li>
</ul>
</ul>
 
<ul>
<li>Compliance and Safety:</li>
<ul>
<li>Promote a culture of safety through education and adherence to company safety policies.</li>
</ul>
</ul>
 
<ul>
<li>Collaboration and Communication:</li>
<ul>
<li>Work closely with Branch Managers and Field Supervisors to identify training needs and develop strategies to address them.</li>
<li>Serve as a subject matter expert in field operations and act as a resource for technical questions from field teams.</li>
</ul>
</ul>
 
<ul>
<li>Travel:</li>
<ul>
<li>Regular travel within the region to provide on-site training and support.</li>
</ul>
</ul>
 
Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Education:</li>
<ul>
<li>High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical degree or certifications in elevator technology or a related field preferred.</li>
</ul>
</ul>
 
<ul>
<li>Experience:</li>
<ul>
<li>Minimum of 10 years of experience in the elevator or vertical transportation industry, with hands-on experience in field operations, installation, maintenance, or repair.</li>
<li>Previous experience in a training or supervisory role is highly desirable.</li>
</ul>
</ul>
 
<ul>
<li>Skills:</li>
<ul>
<li>Strong technical knowledge of elevator systems, including installation, troubleshooting, and repair.</li>
<li>Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to train diverse groups of people effectively.</li>
<li>Knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and elevator industry best practices.</li>
<li>Ability to design and develop training materials using a variety of media (e.g., PowerPoint, video, hands-on demonstrations)</li>
</ul>

<li>Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regularly within the assigned region.</li>

This includes managing an effective team, create the 5-year plan, setting priorities, monitoring performance, providing oversite of process, and budget adherence.Essential Responsibilities<ul><li>Provide leadership, strategic oversite, and direction for assigned functional operations areas.  Assurance to rigor of process and effectiveness in evaluation risk significance for proper decision making is a key accountability.</li><li>Oversee major projects for all OpCos, establishing standardized processes, tools, and methodologies to ensure successful delivery. Oversee the alignment of project objectives with overall 5 year capital plan goals.</li><li>Manage and monitor contractor and services provider performance related to project and program implementation.</li><li>Lead workforce planning and resource allocation across workstreams. Ensure collaboration amongst OpCo teams, resolve escalated issues, and coordinate deliverables.</li><li>Development of direct reports through effective oversight and coaching on talent management, human performance assessments, coaching and accountability and performance management.</li><li>Demonstrate leadership around safety.  This requires observing and enforcing safety rules and practices, encouraging safe work behaviors, and promptly correcting conditions and unsafe behaviors, which may lead to accidents.</li><li>Develops and implements business strategies and operational plans for projects, programs, and process.</li><li>Ensure projects adhere to approved budgets and timelines, for the quarter and year, by tracking progress, addressing risks, and driving resolutions. Oversee financial planning and reporting to maintain transparency and mitigate variances. Oversee the development and management of O&amp;M and capital budget for department.</li><li>Drive effective change management strategies to support smooth transitions in processes or systems. Deliver clear, concise updates to stakeholders, facilitate decision-making, and ensure alignment across all OpCos and delivery channels.</li><li>Develop and maintain effective relationships with Transmission, Distribution, Gas, and Wildfire operations and other internal and external stakeholders.</li><li>Strategically plans and implements solutions, including, process and/or IT solutions that focus on improving employee and productivity.
