<p>The Software Developer I supports existing systems across the entire organization. The incumbent creates new screens within SmartCare, the electronic health record from Streamline Health Care Solutions and designs, develops, and tests within SmartCare and other software efficiently while communicating effectively with all user levels. The incumbent will support all departments with SmartCare Electronic Health Records escalation issues through the help desk tier 2 support and all Information Services help desk support tickets. The Software Developer fully understands the .NET Framework (Core), MSSQL, Microsoft Reporting Technology, and demonstrates the ability to integrate systems to create end-to-end automated processes.</p>
<h2>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</h2>
<ul>
<li>Subject matter expert in SmartCare and works with users to create new screens, reports, customizations and meet business and workflow needs.</li>
<li>Codes applications following specifications using the appropriate tools.</li>
<li>Provides technical leadership to teammates through coaching and mentorship.</li>
<li>Collaborates with other programmers, programmer/analysts, and stakeholders to plan, design, develop, test, and maintain web- and desktop-based business applications built on Microsoft technologies.</li>
<li>Assists in the collection and documentation of user's requirements, development of user stories, estimates, and work plans.</li>
<li>Designs, develops, and unit tests applications in accordance with established standards.</li>
<li>Participates in peer-reviews of solution designs and related code.</li>
<li>Packages and supports deployment of releases, helps to educate users and improve adoption</li>
<li>Works with teammates in the migration of legacy applications to current Microsoft technologies.</li>
<li>Develops, refines, and tunes integrations between applications.</li>
<li>Analyzes and resolves technical and application problems.</li>
<li>Maintains and modifies existing applications under the direction of management.</li>
<li>Maintains and updates existing legacy systems.</li>
<li>Performs custom programming at supervisor’s request.</li>
<li>Assumes responsibility for ongoing documentation of processes, software changes, and end-user manuals.</li>
<li>Provides third-level support to business users.</li>
<li>Solves problems effectively while working alone or with fellow team members.</li>
<li>Keeps abreast of new technologies and keeps up-to-date on developing trends in the Information Services (IS) sector.</li>
<li>Provides implementation support, customization, administration, and testing for Choices' electronic health record systems as a senior system administrator tier 2 with escalation issues.</li>
<li>Provides support for all Information Services help desk support tickets that will include anything IS has developed such as internal websites.</li>
<li>Willingly completes other duties as assigned to advance the mission of Choices.</li>

<h2>Qualifications</h2>
<ul>
<li>Minimum of a BS in Computer Science. Significant experience (work, certifications, or training) related directly to position duties may be considered as substitute for formal education.</li>
<li>Minimum three to five years of experience working with Visual Studio and the .NET Framework required. Six+ years preferred, along with process improvement.</li>
<li>Minimum three years of working experience with multi-tiered software solutions required.</li>
<li>Proficient with Microsoft .NET Core development using C# and VB.NET (required).</li>
<li>Working knowledge and experience with core Microsoft .Net technologies including: WCF, WPF, WF, LINQ, and Entity Framework (required).</li>
<li>Experience designing and developing enterprise-grade software.</li>
<li>Experience with source control management systems and continuous integration/deployment environments.</li>
<li>Experience with testing methodologies.</li>
<li>Experience with agile development methodologies.</li>
<li>Experience with multi-threading and concurrency.</li>
<li>Experience with debugging, performance profiling, and optimization.</li>
<li>Comprehensive understanding of object-oriented and service-oriented application development techniques and theories.</li>
<li>Internally motivated, able to work proficiently both independently and in a team environment.</li>

<p>Reporting to the Sr. Director of Technology, the Software Engineer will play a central role in designing, building, and maintaining Valeo�s internally developed web applications and supporting platform integrations. This role is ideal for a developer who combines strong software engineering fundamentals with a high degree of proficiency using AI-assisted development tools to move faster, write better code, and solve problems more efficiently. The Software Engineer will work across the frontend and backend, connecting user-facing interfaces to cloud-hosted APIs, data platforms, and enterprise identity systems. We are looking for a someone who has successfully incorporated AI tooling into their workflow to accelerate development and delivery of their work. </p>

<p><strong>This position requires in-person office attendance at our Carmel, Indiana headquarters.</strong><br />
<br />
<strong>Duties and Responsibilities:</strong></p>

<ul>
	<li>Design, develop, and maintain full-stack web applications using React, TypeScript, and Python</li>
	<li>Build and consume RESTful APIs that connect frontend interfaces to backend data sources and cloud services</li>
	<li>Implement authentication and authorization flows using Microsoft Entra ID and enterprise single sign-on protocols</li>
	<li>Integrate applications with cloud data platforms and enterprise analytics environments to surface business-critical information</li>
	<li>Deploy and manage applications on Microsoft Azure, including virtual machines, static web apps, and related infrastructure</li>
	<li>Write and maintain database queries and schemas, including working with PostgreSQL and cloud-based data warehouses</li>
	<li>Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate requirements into functional, well-designed application features</li>
	<li>Implement role-based access controls, audit logging, and other security and compliance features appropriate to a regulated financial services environment</li>
	<li>Participate in code reviews, testing, and CI/CD pipeline management to maintain code quality and deployment reliability</li>
	<li>Write and maintain technical documentation for application architecture, APIs, and deployment processes</li>
	<li>Actively use AI-assisted development tools and techniques throughout the development workflow to accelerate delivery, improve code quality, and rapidly iterate on solutions</li>

<p><strong>Requirements:</strong></p>

<ul>
	<li>Bachelor�s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field</li>
	<li>2 to 5 years of professional experience building web applications, with consideration for exceptional candidates outside this range</li>
	<li>Proficiency with React and TypeScript for building responsive, component-based user interfaces</li>
	<li>Experience with Python for backend development, API construction, or scripting</li>
	<li>Demonstrated, hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools as a core part of the software development workflow; candidates should be comfortable using AI to generate, refactor, debug, and ship code rather than treating it as an occasional convenience</li>
	<li>Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQL; familiarity with cloud data platforms is a plus</li>
	<li>Experience with Microsoft Azure services or comparable cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) preferred</li>
	<li>Familiarity with Git-based version control workflows and CI/CD deployment practices</li>
	<li>Understanding of authentication and identity concepts including OAuth 2.0, SSO, and role-based access control</li>
	<li>Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders</li>
	<li>Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver iteratively in a small team environment</li>
	<li>Experience in financial services or wealth management is helpful but not required.</li>
