Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate educator to join our team as a full-time Special Education Teacher. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with students with diverse learning needs and the ability to create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment. This role involves developing individualized education plans (IEPs), implementing tailored teaching strategies, and collaborating with families and other professionals to ensure each student's success.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Create and adapt lesson plans to accommodate various learning styles and abilities.
- Assess students’ progress and modify teaching methods to ensure understanding and engagement.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to provide a cohesive learning experience.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and strategies for support at home.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and behavior, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and school policies.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages social and emotional growth.
- Advocate for students’ needs and rights within the school community and beyond.
- Engage in ongoing collaboration with community resources and agencies to support students and their families.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field preferred.
- Valid state teaching certification in Special Education or willing to obtain.
- Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students, parents, and professionals.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of students with special needs.
- Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive teaching methods is a plus.
