The Senior Superintendent is responsible for the construction site and all activities occurring therein. The Senior Superintendent oversees and directs the material, tools, equipment, and labor used to complete the construction activities. The Senior Superintendent is responsible for job site logistics, scheduling, quality control (Level II, or III as appropriate), safety, field office operations and overall morale.

Requirements

  • Required Education
    • HS Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Required Experience 
    • This position requires strong leadership skills with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience as a Superintendent. 
  • Required Certifications
    • OSHA 10
    • CPR Certified
    • First Aid Certified (current or be able to obtain before project start date)
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Must have general knowledge of all trades on the project and must be able to forecast and execute the required activities within the project schedule.
    • Must have excellent communication skills and be able to interact with co-workers, owners, owners’ representatives and tenants.
    • Must be capable of learning new technical and non-technical information and applying it in the field in relatively short time periods.

Summary

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Supervision of Grunley employees
    • Coordination of work of all Grunley Field Employees; directs Grunley Foremen, Field Engineer(s), Assistant Superintendent(s), and Superintendent(s)
  • Subcontractors
    • Coordination of all subcontractor activities; directs subcontractor foremen accordingly
  • Schedule
    • Developing baseline project schedule; assists with monthly updating of project schedule; keeping project on schedule; and developing two week look ahead schedule
  • Inspections
    • Monitor inspection that are performed; daily inspections to identify potential problems and develop resolutions; and implement Quality Control Program
  • Temporary Construction Materials
    • Determine need; take off, order and maintain; and contract purchasing
  • Equipment
    • Determine need and schedule requirements; get competitive price on rentals; and notify office of rental and termination of equipment
  • Safety
    • Safety inspections; perform weekly tool box talks; verify that M.S.D.S. system is in place; and install safety signage
  • Field Office Operations
    • Daily reports; time sheets; purchase orders; and maintain purchase order log
  • Maintain and Post Drawings
  • Training
    • Provide on-the-job training for Foremen, Field Engineers, Assistant Superintendents, and Superintendents; attend in-house and external training programs; and participate as instructor in Grunley continuing education training programs, when assigned

Comprehensive benefits will be discussed during the recruitment process; base salaries will be determined by skills, position, education. experience, market consideration, and geographic location. The salary range for this role will be $150,000.00-$250,000.00.
