This role is for a Tear Down Technician

Key Responsibilities:

  • Vehicle Disassembly: Systematically remove damaged body panels, lights, bumpers, and interior trim components.
  • Damage Assessment & Supplementing: Inspect vehicles for hidden, internal damage not visible in the initial estimate, and prepare detailed supplement reports for estimators.
  • Parts Management: Organize, label, and store parts to be replaced or reused.
  • Reassembly: Reinstall final trim, moldings, and details after structural/paint work is completed.
  • Safety & Compliance: Maintain a clean workspace, follow company safety procedures, and adhere to environmental regulations regarding hazardous waste disposal.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous auto body repair, collision, or mechanical experience is typically required.
  • Technical Knowledge: Ability to read work orders and follow OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) standards.
  • Tools: Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and proper tool maintenance.
  • Communication: Effective communication with estimators, painters, and parts departments.
  • Attributes: Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Solid working knowledge of the processes, techniques and materials used in repairing automotive equipment with a minimum of 1-3 years of experience working in the collision repair arena.

  • Possess extensive knowledge of vehicle structure to remove and replace damaged components, such as doors, windscreens and fenders.

  • Demonstration of safety precautions required in performing the work in this position.

  • Possess a strong attention to detail in addition to the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Strength to perform average lifting up to 70 pounds.

  • Demonstrated agility, equilibrium and coordination as required when climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling and balancing under precarious conditions.

  • Strong arm, hand and finger dexterity with demonstrated physical capacity to reach, handle, and feel in tight confined spaces with limited visibility.

  • Ability to work in high performance, fast-paced production environment.
