Barre City Elementary and Middle School is seeking a Long-Term Substitute Design and Technology Education Teacher to teach Design Lab, a hands-on course for students in Grades 5 - 8. The teacher will create a positive and engaging learning environment while guiding students through design and technology concepts. Areas of exploration may include graphic design, product design, textiles and fashion, systems and control (e.g., electronics, robotics, automation), computer-aided design (CAD), programming, digital literacy, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
About the Role
Design Lab is offered as a rotating special for all 5th - 8th grade students. While an existing framework is in place, this position offers significant flexibility. The curriculum can be shaped around the strengths and interests of the teacher hired. As this is a long-term substitute role, the teacher will have the opportunity to work alongside the current teacher prior to the leave to discuss plans and co-develop a direction that fits their skills and teaching style.

- A creative problem-solver and facilitator of hands-on learning
- Open to iterating and shaping curriculum based on their own strengths and passions within the broader theme of design and technology
- From a STEM, art, maker, design, or related background
The Long-Term Substitute will be needed March - the remainder of the school year (mid-June).
Pay for this position is set based on education and will be prorated for length of assignment.
