Title: Summer Technology Associate


 


Position Summary: Wayland Public Schools is seeking two motivated High School or early College students to join our IT team for the summer. This role is a hands-on opportunity to help prepare district technology for the upcoming school year. Under the supervision of the Lead Technology Support Specialist, associates will gain experience in device deployment, asset management, and technical organization. Preference will be given to students who have actively served at the High School Student Help Desk (Genius Bar).


 


Duties and Responsibilities (Not limited to): 



  • New Device Deployment: Unbox and set up new Chromebooks, Macbooks, and iPads, including basic district configurations following established procedures.

  • Inventory & Asset Management: Apply asset tags to new equipment and accurately update digital inventory records.

  • Maintenance & Care: Clean devices, re-wire charging carts for organization, and digitally wipe older devices for recycling.


Logistics: Label, sort, and box equipment for delivery to specific schools and classrooms.





Qualifications: 



  • Experience: Prior experience with the HS Student Help Desk (Genius Bar) is highly preferred.

  • Process Integrity: We prioritize accuracy over speed. We are looking for individuals who follow established checklists exactly and do not take shortcuts. If you are unsure of a step, you are expected to stop and ask for clarification rather than "guessing."

  • Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain 100% accuracy with labels, asset tags, and serial numbers. You must be able to spot small discrepancies between digital records and physical hardware.

  • Professional Reliability: Consistent attendance is required. You must be able to provide clear, advance communication regarding your schedule and notify your supervisor immediately of any delays.

  • Physical Ability: This is a fast-paced and physical role. Candidates must be able to lift up to 30 lbs and spend time standing, bending, or kneeling to reach equipment.


Transportation: Must have reliable transportation to travel between school buildings within the district during the workday.


 


Education and Experience: Preference will be given to students who have actively served at the High School Student Help Desk (Genius Bar).


 


Salary Range: $15.00-$17.00 per hour


 


Work Schedule: July 6 – August 25, 2026. 21 hours per week (Mon–Thu, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
