    Job Title: Behavior Technician 
    Location: Several Locations available
    Reports To: Direct Supervisor
    Position Type: Full-Time and Part time available

      

    Job Summary:

     

    The Behavior Technician supports students with behavioral, emotional, and developmental needs in the school environment.  The Behavior Technician implements individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs), collects data, and helps create a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

     
    • Implement behavior intervention plans.

    • Support students in general education or special education classrooms to promote positive behaviors and reduce problematic behaviors.

    • Use strategies to increase skills in areas such as communication, social interaction, and academic engagement.

    • Collect and record accurate data on student behavior and skill acquisition.

    • Participate in team meetings. 

    • Assist with crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques as needed, while maintaining a calm disposition.  

    • Collaborate with staff to ensure consistency and continuity of interventions.

    • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times in compliance with school and district policies.

    • Complete training and certification requirements, including CPI which could include implementing restraint methods. 
       

     

    Qualifications:

     

    Required:

     
    • High school diploma or equivalent

    • Experience working with children, preferably in a school or special education setting

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

    • RBT certification OR proof of completion of 40 hour modules toward certification for Registered Behavior Technician  (40 hour modules available online for free at Autism Partnership Foundation)

     

    Preferred:

     
    • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, or a related field

    • Familiarity with IEPs and BIPs
