Job Description

The Maintenance Technician I is an entry-level position ideal for individuals eager to learn and grow in the field of facility maintenance. This role assists with general building upkeep, and preventative maintenance (PM) on HVAC systems and cannabis process equipment.

 

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Follow instructions given by the manager
  • Participate in routine inspections of buildings and equipment, and learn how to identify and diagnose issues
  • Submit and complete work orders accurately and effectively
  • Motivate and guide INSA requestors to submit work orders through task management system for improved workorder management
  • Perform basic repairs and maintenance like painting, carpentry, masonry, and plumbing
  • Learn and assist in maintaining cannabis process equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance (PM) on HVAC systems, such as replacing filters and cleaning condenser coils
  • Conduct routine inspections of buildings and equipment, identifying issues and reporting findings to the Facilities Manager
  • Support workspace reconfigurations, including moving and installing furniture, partitions, and storage units
  • Accommodate a flexible schedule and respond to issues or problems rapidly
  • Complete assigned tasks within the established timeframes and specifications
  • Compliant with Company SOPs and state regulations
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored
  • Follow applicable safety procedures by wearing appropriate PPE, and reporting injuries, near misses, and hazards to management
  • Behave in a manner that is positive, productive, cooperative, and encourages teamwork
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 1-2 years of experience working in maintenance
  • Willingness to learn cannabis processing equipment operations and develop maintenance skills.
  • Ability to use task management system and reporting (or willingness to learn).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate team members to follow processes.
  • Adaptable, proactive, and willing to work weekends and extended hours as needed.
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools (or willingness to learn).
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to pass a background check in accordance with state regulations.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform manual tasks for extended periods of time (8+ hours)
  • Ability to lift/push/carry items up to 50lbs
  • Ability to climb a ladder, kneel, stoop, and bend at the waist regularly
  • Manual dexterity for handling tools and performing equipment maintenance.
  • Visual acuity is needed to accurately read small screens and labels.

 

Workplace Environment

  • Indoor and outdoor maintenance settings, with exposure to mechanical parts and seasonal temperature changes
  • Exposure to high places, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and loud noises
  • Consistent moderate background noise level due to machinery and HVAC
  • Exposure to cannabis odor and plant resins (PPE provided)

Pay Range: $21.59 - $30.19

Insa is a multi-state employer, and this is the company-wide pay range. Offers will be provided in accordance with state-specific minimum wage guidelines.
