The Commercial Banking Specialist is a detail-oriented and customer-focused professional who supports small business and commercial banking clients through onboarding, account maintenance, and ongoing service needs. This role plays a critical part in delivering a seamless client experience across a range of banking solutions, embracing the "Just Say Yes" philosophy of outstanding service. In support of the bank's strategic plan, this role focuses on enhancing customer experience, driving digital transformation, and strengthening financial performance.
The Commercial Banking Specialist reports directly to the VP, Premier Relationship Manager and is part of the premier and commercial banking relationships portfolio. This position works closely with the Commercial Banking Officer to support and develop relationships with business customers. This position is accountable for strict adherence to bank policies and regulatory requirements.
The Commercial Banking Specialist interacts directly with customers about deposit accounts, digital banking, ACH, Remote Deposit, Positive Pay, IntraFi, and other Commercial Banking services. Positioned as a client interacting service partner, this role combines operational expertise with relationship support-engaging in meaningful conversations to understand client needs, providing timely follow-up, and identifying opportunities to introduce additional products and services that enhance the client relationship.
Key Responsibilities
Client Support & Relationship Engagement
- Deliver responsive, professional support to commercial clients and internal partners via phone, email, and in person. Maintain a consistent, professional presence in all communications, contributing to a positive client experience.
- Build rapport with clients through day-to-day interactions, reinforcing a relationship-focused experience. Engage in conversations to understand client needs and identify opportunities to enhance their banking relationship. Follow up with clients on service requests, onboarding progress, and product inquiries to ensure a high level of satisfaction.
Account Processing & Maintenance
- Process Small Business and Commercial Banking account applications and service requests with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Manage ongoing account maintenance and updates in accordance with bank policies and regulatory requirements. Support lenders by assisting with deposit account setup and servicing for their clients.
Product Knowledge & Support
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of Commercial Banking products and services, including deposit accounts, ACH, Remote Deposit Capture, digital banking, and treasury-related services (e.g., merchant services). Confidently introduce and explain products in a way that aligns with client needs, supporting overall relationship growth. Serve as a resource to internal teams by sharing product knowledge and best practices. Collaborate with the Commercial Banking team to ensure timely and accurate onboarding of services.
Collaboration & Team Support
- Act as a trusted partner to branches, lenders, and internal teams to deliver a consistent and high-quality client experience. Support internal training efforts and contribute to a culture of knowledge-sharing and continuous improvement.

Required Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma
- 1–3 years of experience in banking, financial services, or a client-facing role preferred.
Essential Job Functions:
Essential job functions include the employee occupying this position must have a valid driver's license and have their own transportation to service all of the Bank's Corporate Services clients. The employee will be frequently lifting, carrying, bending, kneeling, and reaching 20 percent of the time. The employee will be required to organize and coordinate schedules and work orders for multiple locations. The employee will frequently operate a telephone, computer, printer, copier and fax machine; and move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
