Job Description

High School PLTW Biomedical Science Educator: Architect of Discovery

Location: McCluer High School
Year: 2026–2027 School Year

The Opportunity: Building the Future of Healthcare & Science

In our high schools, the PLTW Biomedical Science classroom is a hub of curiosity, discovery, and real-world problem solving. We are seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking educator to lead our Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Gateway Biomedical Science courses. You are not just teaching science—you are guiding students through the exploration of the human body, disease, public health, and medical innovation.

From analyzing patient case studies and modeling biological systems to investigating epidemics and exploring cutting-edge medical technologies, you will inspire students to ask deeper questions about the world around them—and their place in shaping its future.

As part of the FFSD “New Chapter,” you will cultivate a classroom where inquiry drives instruction and perseverance fuels discovery. If you are ready to inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals, researchers, and innovators, your next chapter starts here.

Role Summary

As a High School PLTW Biomedical Science Teacher, you will inspire and support students in reaching their academic and scientific potential. You will deliver high-quality, project-based instruction using the PLTW Gateway Biomedical curriculum (such as Medical Detectives). In a student-centered environment, you will empower scholars to apply science, technology, and critical thinking to investigate real-world health challenges and biomedical problems.

  • Certified Professional: Valid Missouri Teaching Certification in Science (preferred) or any content area with appropriate High School endorsement (9-12).

PLTW Certified: Completion of (or willingness to complete) Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Core Training is required. (District will fund training and certification.)

Degree Requirements: Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree, required; Master’s degree, preferred.

Scientific Mindset: Strong understanding of life sciences, human body systems, and/or biomedical concepts, with the ability to translate complex ideas into engaging, student-friendly learning experiences.

Equity Champion: Commitment to ensuring all students—especially those historically underrepresented in STEM and healthcare—see themselves as capable scientists and future leaders.

Your Impact (Key Duties)

    Real-World Application:
Connect classroom learning to careers in healthcare, biotechnology, public health, and medical research.

    Safety & Laboratory Practices:
Maintain a safe, organized, and professional lab environment where students follow proper procedures and understand the importance of ethical scientific practices.

    Collaborate for Success:
