Controller
Location: Miami preferred (hybrid/onsite as needed)
Experience: 7–10 years
Compensation Range: ~$125K - 145K

Role Overview
The Controller will own the day-to-day accounting and financial operations, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and control across all financial processes. This role is both operational and strategic, partnering closely with leadership to build scalable finance infrastructure that supports the company’s growth and expansion into a global sports organization.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and experienced in building financial systems and processes in fast-growing environments.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
  • Own and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare internal financial statements and reporting packages.
  • Maintain consistency and integrity of accounting records.

Core Accounting Operations
  • Oversee accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and general ledger functions.
  • Manage payroll processing and coordination with providers..
  • Perform and review account reconciliations across all balance sheet accounts.
  • Ensure proper classification and recording of all financial transactions.

Cash Management
  • Monitor cash flow and liquidity on a regular basis.
  • Manage bank accounts, transfers, and reconciliations.
  • Support forecasting of cash needs across operating cycles.

Financial Controls & Process Development
  • Design and implement internal controls to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
  • Build approval workflows for spending, contracts, and reimbursements.
  • Strengthen accounting policies and documentation standards.
  • Reduce risk through structured financial governance.

Systems, Tools & Automation
  • Evaluate, implement, and optimize finance systems and tools.
  • Improve automation across accounting, reporting, and approvals.
  • Support system integration as the business scales internationally.
  • Enhance reporting dashboards and financial visibility.

Budgeting & Financial Planning Support
  • Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Assist leadership with variance analysis and financial insights.
  • Track performance against budget and identify key drivers.

Leadership Reporting & Board Support
  • Prepare financial reports and summaries for leadership and board-level review.
  • Translate financial data into clear insights for decision-making.
  • Support investor or stakeholder reporting requirements as needed.

Scaling & Strategic Finance Support
  • Partner with leadership to scale finance infrastructure as WGB grows globally.
  • Support expansion planning, including new markets and operational growth.
  • Build financial systems that can support multi-region operations over time.

Qualifications
  • 7–10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
  • Prior experience as Controller or Senior Accounting Manager preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles.
  • Experience in high-growth, startup, sports, media, or consumer-facing businesses a plus.
  • Proven experience building or improving financial systems and internal controls.
  • Experience with payroll, AP/AR systems, and financial software platforms.
