We’re looking for dedicated and safety-minded individuals to join our transportation team as school bus drivers. At Swartz Creek Schools, you’ll play a vital role in the daily lives of our students, ensuring they travel safely to and from school while building positive relationships along the way. Hours: Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM-9:00 AM & 2:00 PM-5:00PM
Rates: Hired Drivers - $23.75 per hour & Bus Drivers in Training - $12.50 per hour
Required Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older
- Must have or be able to obtain:
- Class A or B CDL with S and P endorsement and air brake endorsement.
- Pass the state-required Physical exam and drug screening.
- The state requires fingerprinting, a driver’s license, and a background check.
- Attend and complete a state safety education class and written and driving skill tests.
- Applicants should have the ability to interact with both students and parents positively.
- Experience preferred.
Performance Responsibilities
- Obeys all traffic laws.
- Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
- Maintains discipline when students are on the bus.
- Reports undisciplined students to the proper authority.
- Will keep the assigned bus clean.
- Will keep to the assigned schedule.
- Checks the bus before each operation for mechanical defects.
- Will notify the garage in case of mechanical failure.
- Discharges students only at authorized stops.
- Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips.
- Transports only authorized students.
- Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
- Endorses regulations against smoking and eating on the bus.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Transportation Coordinator.
