Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for directing staff, keeping accurate inventory and assisting in the overall management of the Convenience Store Department. Will meet the needs of guests while assuring adherence to internal policies and procedures of the Shooting Star Casino. In all interactions, the position is responsible for providing STAR Experience to guests and fellow team members a first priority.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out supervisory responsibilities with assigned staff to retain and motivate a professional workforce for Shooting Star Casino, Hotel & Event Center.

  • Coordinates and implements training processes for current and new team members.
  • Plans, assigns, delegates and directs work.
  • Administers performance evaluations.
  • Rewards and disciplines team members. 

Coordinates pricing strategies on merchandise to maximize profitability of store operations.

  • Ensures that each item is priced before placed on the selling floor to maintain inventory and sale accuracy.

Prepares promotion activities and oversees coordination efforts of advertising and displays.

  • Make sure proper signage is put up, tracking the items on sale.
  • Make sure clerks are aware of the sales and what the price changes and discounts will be.

Provides assistance in ordering merchandise and supplies, to ensure adequate stock is maintained and purchase procedures are followed.

  • Conducts periodic inventory counts on merchandise.
  • Assists with the monitor of facility gasoline inventories and properly report discrepancies.
  • Orders merchandise with Manager approval.

Listens and Responds to guest concerns to maintain a high level of guest satisfaction.

  • Assists guest person to person, or via telephone or email.
  • Listens to guests’ questions and/or comments and provides information as needed.
  • Applies problem-solving techniques as necessary.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Associate Degree (AA) or equivalent of two-year college or technical school. Must have an experience working in a mall, shop or fast food store preferably as a Supervisor. Must have at least 2-3 years’ experience.

Certificates, Licenses & Designations

Must meet licensing requirements as prescribed by the Tribal/State Compact for Gaming.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Skill of delegating authority and encouraging and supporting risk taking to develop responsible associates and management team.
  • Skill – Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and team building skills.
  • Knowledge of and skill in using a personal computer and related software.
  • Skill – Intermediate to advanced PC skills (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, or similar).
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply internal gaming controls.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • The environment in which the position functions and the frequency of exposure, such as frequent exposure to loud noise.
  • Ability to work unsupervised in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work unaccompanied, standing, and without defined break periods. Occasionally working   extended shifts of 12 hours or more, as assigned.
  • Ability to bend, twist, and lift at least 20 lbs. in narrow spaces.
  • Ability to work in varying outdoor climates and in-store cooler environments.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and be available 24/7 to respond to incidents and emergencies.
  • Must possess required up-to-date food handling certificates, as required by law (in specific locations only).
  • Occasional exposure to moderate to loud noise level.
  • Occasional exposure to cigarette smoke.
  • Minimal exposure to blood borne pathogens.
  • Occasional exposure to dust, dirt and debris.
  • Occasional exposure to chemicals and cleaning solutions.
