Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher for our Resource Program at Greyhound Intermediate School. The ideal candidate will provide individualized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs, fostering an inclusive and nurturing environment that promotes academic, social, and emotional growth. This full-time position requires collaboration with general education teachers, parents, and support staff to ensure the success of each student.

POSITION: Special Education Teacher – Resource Program
BUILDING: Greyhound Intermediate School, Grades 3-5
DATE OF AVAILABILITY: February 2026
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must possess, or be willing to obtain within a set time frame, a Special Education endorsement.
2. Prior teaching experience at the elementary level preferred
3. Knowledge of and commitment to best practices as supported by current research to teach the
District’s adopted curriculum; willingness to attend workshops to strengthen skills
4. Experience and expertise with guided reading instruction, process writing and reading comprehension
strategies, knowing how to monitor student progress within a balanced literacy approach to teaching
5. Must support inclusionary classroom practices, willingly participating in co-teaching with
professional staff and paraprofessional aides
6. Support MTTS process within the building
7. Ability to integrate technology into the curriculum
8. Ability to use assessments and student data to drive meaningful instruction
9. Committed to working in a high profile school and being a part of a professional learning community
10. Ability to assist students in problem solving activities regarding behaviors and academics through
knowledge of varied intervention theories and actions in a contained classroom setting focused on
behavioral management
11. Experience with and ability to implement assessments and IEP/MET student data to drive meaningful
instruction
12. Must be able to adapt to a variety of educational delivery models and be skilled in accommodating
learning differences
13. Must demonstrate competency in communications with parents and colleagues. Willingness to
maintain/facilitate frequent conversations/communication with parents and colleagues outside of
designated conferences
14. Keep informed of and comply with school, district, state, and federal requirements and policies for
teachers of special education
15. Effective oral and written communication skills, as well as excellent classroom management skills
16. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required
