Job Description

The Emergency Medical Technician will use their skills and training to support our practitioners and other members or our healthcare team by gathering patient medical histories, taking and recording vital sign information, supporting patient care, and assisting with minor procedures.  The EMT will respond to emergency, and non-emergency requests, and provide Basic Life Support (BLS) as needed, being mindful to adhere to all appropriate state and local standards. 



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:




  • Record patient medical history, vital statistics, and additional pertinent information in medical records.

  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations and/or procedures

  • Prepare and administer medications and start IV’s  as directed by the provider.

  • Collect blood, tissues, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens and prepare them for testing.

  • Explain treatment procedures, medications, or physician instructions to patients.

  • Answer patient questions regarding procedures or physician instructions.

  • Assist with the post-procedure process, supporting the nursing staff in providing patient instructions and discontinuing IV’s as directed. 

  • Clean instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.

  • Assist providers and other healthcare providers in examining and treating patients; handing them instruments, giving injections, or other tasks as needed. 

  • Assist in evaluating patient conditions in emergent situations and perform preliminary diagnosis and life saving measures as necessary. 

  • Adhere to established medical protocols and procedures as well as legal guidelines and health and safety standards.
