Job Description:
This job is responsible for optimizing the flow of epics, features, and the value delivered from larger Agile Release Train features. Key responsibilities include facilitating Solution Train ceremonies, managing dependencies, reporting the health of epic and feature delivery and overall program increment, and promoting agile principles and mindsets. Job expectations include resolving impediments to delivery, protecting the Trains from disruptions, driving continuous improvement, and managing the Release Train budget, resources, and communications between business and technology leaders.
Responsibilities:
- Guides and coaches the teams in the Agile Release Train on Scrum practices and Agile principles and mentors Release Train Engineers
- Executes program increment session for release train and facilitates Agile release train ceremonies
- Provides status updates regarding Agile Release Train plans, delivery, timelines, and impediments to stakeholders and leadership while communicating within the Agile Release Train to support delivery against program commitments
- Manages risk including dependency management, impediment removal, and compliance with Enterprise Change Management and other policy requirements
- Measures Agile Release Train delivery, maturity, and performance, and reviews results with Agile Release Train to identify improvement opportunities, and determine and track product funding and resource acquisition needs
- Collaborates with the product management team, ensures the solution train has a healthy backlog, and reviews demand versus capacity
- Consults with product management team and other stakeholders to ensure execution is aligned with product strategy
- Planning for the team (Pre-Planning/ Preparation and PI Planning Events) and represent the team in Scrum of Scrums/ART Syncs.
- Drive agile execution to meet business outcomes and priorities
- Perform hands-on training/coaching to teams in all aspects of Lean-Agile.
- Lead roles and teams to embrace a Lean-Agile and learning mindset.
- Provide guidance about how to create and manage an intake process, healthy backlog, and how to facilitate valuable Agile ceremonies.
- Align teams to enterprise Agile standards and practices, and coach team members through change.
- Help the team define norms/agreements, i.e. Definition of Ready and Definition of Done, and enforce the agreements.
- Establish agile metrics and reporting
- Ensure the team has a healthy product and Sprint backlog (in collaboration with the PO).
- Facilitate dependency management/risk management/impediment removal for the team.
- Measure team delivery, maturity, and performance and review the metrics with the team to identify improvement opportunities
Required Qualifications:
- 7-10 years of experience in technology in agile delivery environment including in a hands-on Agile Release Train Engineer role (or comparable role)
- Working knowledge of Lean Agile SDLC processes and deliverables
- Working knowledge Application Lifecycle Management
- Ability to translate Agile concepts into business outcomes
- Strong command of Agile metrics
- Experience in education at all levels of management within the agile framework (portfolio, program, team)
- Excellent analysis and troubleshooting skills
- Strong facilitation and organization skills
- Process and detailed oriented
- Willingness to be accountable for meeting all deliverable dates for task assignments.
- Ability to foster strong collaboration among team members and help team solve problems
- Self-motivation, self-direction, organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex fast paced environment without sacrificing quality or timelines.
