An exciting opportunity exists at Mainroad North Island Contracting LP for a self-motivated individual to join the Bridge Crew as a Ticketed Journeyman Bridgeworker or a Ticketed Journeyman Carpenter. This is an auxiliary position for the spring and summer months based out of Mainroad North Island’s yard in Cumberland and will report to the Bridge Manager.

The successful candidate shall have the following qualifications:

•High school diploma or equivalent
•Class 3 Driver’s License with air brake endorsement and a clean driver’s abstract is required
•Possess the skills to perform routine and complex repairs on timber, concrete, and steel bridge components (e.g., joint repairs, concrete deck patching).
•Strong learning agility and ability to multi-task.
•Ability to work shifts (including night shift, if required).
•Ability to work call-outs, weekends and overtime, if required.
•Willing to work in extreme weather conditions.
•Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
•Capable of performing heavy physical labour.
•Ability to work out of town for extended periods of time.
•A valid Journeyman Bridgeworker Ticket or Journeyman Carpentry Ticket

Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:

•As a Bridge Labourer, you would be responsible for various tasks related to bridge structures.
•Assisting with concrete deck patching.
•Assisting with swing bridge mechanical maintenance.
•Performing pump station maintenance.
•Assisting with heavy timber repairs, and other various construction work involving power tools.
•All other labouring work as required by the Bridge Crew.

TJ Carpenter - $40.64 per hour
TJ Bridgeworker $42.34 per hour
