Job Description
Join our IT team as a Data Science Intern for Summer 2026 and gain hands-on experience solving real-world dental insurance challenges using AI and advanced analytics. This paid, full-time internship offers exposure to cutting-edge technologies, including computer vision, natural language processing, large language models, and cloud-based tools in Azure. You’ll work alongside experienced data scientists on projects involving data preprocessing, model development, automation, and visualization. Ideal candidates are pursuing or recently completed a degree in data science, computer science, or a related field and are eager to learn in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

 

General Description

This individual will participate in a part-time internship program, working 40 hours per week for a period of approximately four months. The intern will engage in data science projects with a focus on computer vision and natural language processing (NLP). They will gain exposure to real-world medical data science use cases, utilize cutting-edge AI technologies such as Large Language Models, and have an opportunity to work in a cloud-based Azure environment. Projects may include data preprocessing, model training, evaluation, deployment, data visualization, and other assigned tasks.

Responsibilities

The intern may be assigned a wide variety of tasks depending on department workload and priorities, as well as the individual’s strengths, skillset, and background. Tasks may vary from routine work to complex, multi-step projects. Specific responsibilities include:

• Solving real world Dental Insurance data challenges using AI technologies

• Engaging in data preprocessing, model training, evaluation, and deployment

• Developing and supporting automated workflows to reduce manual processes

• Building backend processes to extract, transform, and combine data from multiple sources

• Generating structured reports and templated outputs (e.g., letters, summaries) from data

• Utilizing computer vision and NLP techniques as required by the projects

• Collaborating with team members to ensure project goals are met

• Visualizing data and presenting findings to stakeholders

Education, Skills, Personal Attributes, and Experience Required

• Pursuing or completed bachelor’s degree from an accredited college required; degrees in computer science, data science, mathematics, or related fields preferred

• Experience with Python and relevant libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, OpenCV, NLTK, Textract) preferred

• Working knowledge of data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Pandas, Matplotlib, Seaborn)

• Familiarity with data processing, scripting, or backend development (e.g., APIs, SQL, or data pipelines) preferred

• Experience with computer vision and/or Natural Language Processing a plus

• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud) and related services for data processing, storage, or workflow automation a plus

• Ability to independently solve complex problems

• Attention to detail and accuracy

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Motivated with a strong interest in learning new skills and tasks

• Ability to work independently and in a team environment

• Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines
